Ilxom’s a truly gracious host. He and his family are warm, kind and cook up seriously delicious local meals. I slept on the wooden seats in his courtyard every night, and he made sure i was comfortable, giving me thick linens and ensuring it was well lit. His cats are friendly, his kids are cute and his suggestions for local sights always exceed expectations. For avid hikers, there simply isn’t a better place to stay to explore the Zerafshan mountains. Staying in his home was the highlight of my Uzbekistan trip.
