The Forest House is beautiful, spacious, and peaceful. It has an amazing balcony looking onto the giant ancient trees of the garden and forest. close to nature. Chandrakanthi and Sunil are lovely and extremely helpful, they live very close. Fazry and Dayani are the best!! If you need somewhere to meditate or do creative work definitely recommend, and it’s very spacious so also good for a big group. Thanku so much, perfect end to my trip 🙏🏽 … Also there’s a lot of wildlife, you can watch the monkeys climbing through the trees around the house.

We were a research group from London visiting Wayamba University agriculture faculty. We stayed overnight in this place. The house was spacious and the group had lots of space to discuss things in the evening. We didn't have time to visit any nearby places, but it seemed that the surroundings were peaceful. We cooked our own breakfast because meals had be ordered from outside. We enjoyed it too.

We had a wonderful stay at the Lake Villa. It was the perfect place to arrive after a long travel. We are travelling with three little children and even the house is very open, we enjoyed it very much. The pool was fun and the food delicious.

This was a little slice of paradise for our family. It was very relaxing and quiet. Sharmila was very responsive to all of our questions and needs. The caretaker, Sunil, was present a lot, and went out of his way to make us comfortable. If he noticed anything that needed done, he didn't ask, but stepped up and took care of the glass or dish one of my children left around the house. This is a place that is in nature, with lots of bugs and mosquitoes, be aware of that. But you are in great hands with Sharmila. She even called the local hospital to find a pediatrician when my daughter didn't feel well for a day. Excellent home, excellent host. I would recommend this stay for anyone needed a bit of rest and relaxation.

I stayed at Ruben`s place for few days after the season. It was really great! This place is really lovely, situated in a walking distance from the town and the beach plus there are bikes to use for guests! You can agree for breakfast and/or dinner which i highly recommend as the cook, Nisala, is amazing, all what i tried there was absolutely delicious! It's like a little paradise with charming houses among palm trees and colorful hamacks, highly recommended!

We were upgraded from the other property on site to the Honeymoon Suite. The secluded setting among the rough sand dunes is amazing and the architecture of the building is impressive. Some of the furnishings are a bit “tired” but that did not detract from our wonderful experience. There were very few mosquitoes but some flies and midges, a minor inconvenience and sorted out with insecticide. We had the endless, sandy beach practically to ourselves. We enjoyed watching the wildlife – eagles, peacocks, mongoose, palm squirrels, myna birds, bee-eaters and goats – from the suite. But what impressed and touched us most of all were the staff! Never before have we been so wonderfully looked after. They all went out of their way to be helpful and considerate. There are no restaurants nearby so all meals were freshly prepared for us and delicious. Prices were very reasonable. Nishani was kind, generous and exceptionally responsive and, although far away, felt like she was right there.

We loved staying here! Susantha and his family have created a really cool and beautiful place with a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Our room was really comfortable and clean and we enjoyed having a private place to relax as well as spending time in the communal areas meeting other travellers. Although this is a spot for kite surfing we came here to just relax away from a busy tourist beach (it's a very quiet area with a tiny town) and for this it was perfect. We felt so welcomed by Susantha, his family and the other travellers that it felt like home. We hope to come back one day and learn to kite surf, we've been inspired :)

Susantha is a lovely character, hang out with her guests, talk a lot and laugh all the time. His mom cooks amazingly good dinners. Breakfast is pretty good. I switched from backpacker room which was small to a cabana with its own bathroom and shower because it was better value.

We couldn’t recommend staying at Ruuk Village more. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the private area at the front is relaxing and pretty, and the private bathroom is in keeping with the whole theme of the village. Our stay was made even better by the staff, who were always attentive, and the food provide was delicious - the authentic Sri Lankan dinners and breakfasts were brilliant. Don’t come here if you’re looking for 5* hotel treatment, but DO come here if you’re looking for friendly, flawless treatment with rustic, charming rooms only metres from beautiful views. All in all, we couldn’t recommend Ruuk Village highly enough.
