Smoking friendly vacation rentals in Playa Pavones

First we were a bit worried by the previous rather negative reviews, but it was totally fine after all. The couch had been repaired and the pots and pans are new. The place is quite remote and the driveway really long and steep, so we totally recommend to have a good car (ideally 4x4). With the remoteness comes a lot of wildlife - we saw so many birds, two types of monkeys and other animals right next to the perch. We brought good binoculars, which made it even better. Later on we did a jungle tour on the Osa peninsula and we were astounded by how many animals we already had seen on the perch in Pavones. The place is quite small. We looked at the pictures again and they don’t give a wrong impression, but for whatever reason we had expected a bigger place. Not the hosts fault. Looking back on our trip to Costa Rica, our stay at the Bird Perch was definitely a high light!

We had a great stay at the apartment. Because we had a very early rise to go into Corcovado national park Alberto really helped by letting our car stay on the fenced parking lot and make clear arrangements for the pickup. If you’re looking for a comfortable place in Puerto Jiménez, this is a great option that I recommend!

The location is great, few doors down to a supermarket and few restaurants. The property is beachfront and private. It’s more worth than what I paid for. Ana is a really nice person and eager to help. I’ll be back!

The place was great. Alberto and Tamar gave us information about the area to enjoy the best possible and also gave us a good welcome coffee. We hope to visit the area again and this accommodation will always be a great option.

Let me start by saying, I would highly recommend staying here if you’re in this area. The house and cabina are new, very clean and situated on a large, very well maintained finca of sorts. The grounds have every fruit tree imaginable and the hosts enjoy sharing their bounty with guests. Now about the location... The property is a 15-20 minute drive outside of the bustling town of Puerto Jiménez. So, if you’re in search of a tranquilo, safe place to stay then look no further. They do have a dog and he is the kindest, sweetest dog. This could have been an issue since we were traveling with our dog, but it worked out wonderfully. Despite the age difference, our old dog was not traumatized nor terrorized by their dog. Perhaps that’s a mere reflection of the owners? Arturo, our host, even took one of our travel companions on a walk to the beach at the end of the unpaved road, stopping along the way to visit a neighbor. We experienced having a dead battery after leaving our headlights on an Arturo and a neighbor were kind enough to help us jump the car. Such kindness and above and beyond hospitality helps restore my faith in mankind. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay!

We absolutely LOVED Casa Ola! It's an incredibly comfortable and very well designed home. One of our favorites we've ever stayed in. One of the reasons we chose Casa Ola was for the kitchen and it was great! It is spacious and well-appointed with everything you need to cook for yourself or a group. If you're cooking, make sure to take advantage of Emilio with his fruit and veg truck--excellent produce at reasonable prices! As mentioned in other reviews, the water is slightly rougher than up the playa toward the village but we had no issue swimming, boogie boarding and light surfing right outside the house. We did it several times a day, every day! We will definitely be back to Zancudo and 100% will stay at Casa Ola every time. Every space--from the outdoor patio to the upstairs sitting area to the screened in hammock area and the lovely covered gazebo to watch the sunsets--is magical. Susan was a perfect host, very responsive, accommodating and kind with a wealth of knowledge.

A place you will never forget. Indescribable beauty and proximity to nature. It was a privilege for our family to stay here. Thank you Pascal, Chon, Jackie and Carlos for helping to create this immense place.

My wife grew up in Matapalo so we were looking for the full jungle experience but still be comfortable. Our place was up on the hill with a big grass yard but we were still surrounded by nature. The cleaners came in the middle of our stay & provided fresh bedding & towels. This place exceeded our expectations and we would love to come back!

The location is absolutely amazing. If you surf you’re only about a 8 minute walk to the surf spot. You can walk to many different restaurants, grocery store. Every morning we were woken by different kinds of birds singing. The place itself is very nice. I do have a few negative things, the pillows are super thin, there was not any soap or shampoo (not a problem the store was close), the bathroom is on the first floor and if your wife is like mine who has to pee 6 million times during the night, I got tired of going up and down the stairs with her! The only other thing and it is in the description was no hot water, I thought my wife was joking when she told me this before booking the place. Nope! No hot water, the shower outside water is hotter! Other than these little items, the place is amazing, the host replied really fast when we needed anything, the location is amazing. We felt really safe! The price was great for this place. Just pack an extra pillow and soap!

This is a stunning location at the heart of nature. We absolutely loved just sitting and watching the abundance of wildlife that visited the garden or wandering down to one of the idyllic beaches that are in easy walking distance. The property is an open beach house and doesn’t pretend to be a luxury villa but really this only adds to the sense of being in nature. In truth though there are far fewer nocturnal visitors than we had expected. Also, do not be put off by the road; it is really not bad at all, in fact there are far fewer potholes than on many other Costa Rican roads. Richard is an exceptional host; friendly, helpful and always available but very respectful of your privacy. We absolutely loved our stay here and would have no hesitation going back.

Beautiful grounds, a nice airy place, and helpful hosts. Couple minute walk to the water. It's possible to surf out front sometimes, but the main breaks are 5-10 drive minutes away. You can walk to Pan Dulce at low tide. Lots of wildlife. Was especially excited to see a ton of spider monkeys, which you don't see a lot in other areas of Costa Rica.

Patrick’s place is beautifully done and in a perfect peaceful setting. Highly recommended.

Maria’s beach house had a fabulous vibe, steps from the water, animal viewing from the deck and comfortable. Maria was a fabulous host, easy to communicate with, knowledgeable and responsive. She had great recommendations which helped make our stay even better. The house is old and has a very authentic feel. A few small additions and upgrades would make it phenomenal. Our group enjoyed our stay here!!
