Family-friendly vacation rentals in Owen County

Our family of 6 stayed between Christmas and New Years. Like Alicia and Glenn, we also homeschool our four kids (ages 12-6). We were worn down from the holidays and daily life, so were looking for a refreshing time away from home. Our stay was exactly that. The home and property were extremely peaceful being out in the woods. We did several trail walks and explored the creeks around the property. The kids thought the circular nature of the home, and hot tub were fun too. I appreciated the various Christian decor in the home, it gave me some things to think about as we hung out. But even more than all of that, we had a wonderful chat with Alicia and Glenn that was very refreshing to our spirits. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet getaway that is focused on Jesus and the holy spirt this is the place for you. This place is a slice of heaven. It’s quiet and perfect for a group of family / family friends / and for myself a bachelorette group. We enjoyed the tranquility and the feeling of right at home! The house was cute and clean. You get your bang for your buck here. My only advice would be if you book, bring a car that can climb a hill, as the home is on top of (what feels like) mountain! But makes for gorgeous views.

We loved staying here and it was the perfect location for our family Easter! I truly can’t say enough great things about this cabin and the owners! It was very clean and well appointed with anything you need and the owners were very accommodating and kind! They helped with a couple requests, including a pack and play and high chair. We were able to cook a large Easter dinner with the stocked kitchen appliances and cookware. The property is very serene with plenty of privacy and great options for hiking around. The location is also not too far to get to the grocery store and restaurants. Lastly, the pool table and hot tub were a hit! We highly recommend to stay here and know we will definitely be back for another stay!

We had An amazing time staying at Emily’s! My daughter was out early every morning to say hi to the horses and loved the kitty and dogs visiting too! Beds were comfy!

My parents came into town and stayed here for the weekend. It is a lovely space with a full functioning kitchen and great amenities. Brooke and Bob were responsive and answered all questions quickly and clearly! I definitely recommend this Airbnb, it has a lot of character and charm and my parents loved it!

Kelly and her husband Paul were wonderful! Very friendly, hospitable, and helpful! My friend and I stayed for the derby and they gave us souvenir glasses and wine bottle. They also had great suggestion on where to eat and things to do! I hope to be able to stay again sometime!

The home is isolated and quiet. There is a very low light pollution factor, so the stars are amazing. Just as we happened to be looking up we were able to follow the space station as it traversed the night sky. The noises are country noises that I grew to love as a kid. Zero traffic sounds. The place is solid, comfortable and quiet. The amenities are perfect if you are looking to for a place to think and enjoy peace. Jennifer was very helpful even before we arrived. She has a pet friendly place - we have 2 very old gentleman-dogs; one blind, the other deaf. She found us an experienced dog sitter who sat with them the whole time we were at the Ark Encounter (5-6 hours) and we came home to find them both asleep. That's the highest marks those 2 can give a sitter - if they are both comfortable enough to nap. Highly Recommend Pastoral View and Jennifer.

We had a great stay! Perfect for visiting kids at UK. The home was clean and well cared for with all the amenities of home. Ketie was super responsive and helpful.

The Tack House was perfect for my husband and I and our dog. The fence for the dog yard is lined with page wire so there were no escapes, which is great for our smallish dog. There is also a large paddock to the side and lawn in the back so plenty of space for them to roam with you. The apartment is really cute and comfy. The mattress is very comfortable, which our old bones appreciate. We used the extra blankets and throws since the weather was so cold while we were there. We set both splitters on 70-72 and also turned on the wall fireplace in the bedroom for a couple of hours in the evening then off for the night and that made it very cozy. We spent days with family in the area so just made breakfast and snacks. There is no dishwasher, which some will care about. There were plenty of paper products provided and some basics (spices, oils, etc). Knives were sharp, which I appreciate. Alicia and Glenn were very responsive to my questions. All in all, a great place!

We loved our stay at Kamp Kessa. The surroundings were beautiful and Dr. T was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed being able to visit the horses. Our dogs loved the open area next to the cabin.

Bill’s place is charming, clean, comfortable and well equipped. We loved the historic neighborhood for walking, and being so accessible to everywhere we wanted to go.

This home was beautiful! More that I expected and hoped for. 8 full bedrooms, 7 of which had a a full private bathroom. We had so much space to gather and still had our privacy. There was seating enough for mealtimes and games times. With 16 people in one house, that was such a a blessing. I highly recommend this property, it's well worth it!

This is a beautiful, historic, and impressive home. Our family took a weekend in the area and greatly enjoyed staying at Barr House Inn. The rooms were large, furnishings elegant, entrance impressive, and the location with a short drive to Lexington was helpful. An added benefit was the swimming pool with a deck and chairs/tables for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. All of the bedrooms, two of the bathrooms, as well as the kitchen were on the second floor, which made it easy for family gatherings. It was a great and enjoyable weekend at this historic home.

We enjoyed our stay at this Beautiful Farmhouse. The views are spectacular and the home was comfortable and peaceful. Every room has their own bathroom. I highly recommend.
