Le ksar Aït Ben Haddou est un village fortifié et constitue le symbole de la culture amazighe et de l’architecture en terre au Sud-Est du Maroc. Cet impressionnant chef d’œuvre a été construit sur le flanc d’un rocher dans la vallée d’Ounila et se découvre en une parfaite harmonie avec son environnement naturel. Le ksar d’Aït Ben Haddou remonte au 12 ème siècle et plusieurs légendes racontent sa fondation. Le village était une étape importante pour les caravanes chamelières qui reliaient les pays au-delà du Sahara aux grandes cités du Maroc comme Marrakech, Fès ou Meknes. On peut aujourd’hui encore admirer les anciennes parties du ksar restaurées depuis sa classification par l’UNESCO en 1987 en tant que patrimoine mondial.
