A cabin on a hillside made of gold in historic Bendigo, the best-kept secret in Central Otago. Surrounded by vineyards on a rustic landscape steeped in gold mining history. We're 30 minutes from Wanaka, 50 from Queenstown airport, at the heart of everything that makes Central Otago so beautiful and unique. There's much to explore from walks to wineries. Pour yourself a glass of vino, soak in the outdoor tub and be awed by the panoramic views and the starry night sky, you'll never want to leave.
“Our stay in the Dunstan cabin was spectacularly dreamy. The cabin itself was modern, stylish and cosy. Particularly enjoyed waking up to coffee in bed overlooking the Bendigo wine region. The black craggy hills captivated us for hours and the outdoor tub overlooking it all was simply an amazing touch! We can’t wait to come back! Lauren & Matt”

This unit is the Nave of a modified 120 yrs old Church. It is a self contained place ready for you to use as a base or home as you explore Central Otago, from curling in Naseby, to skiing in Queenstown, or just rest and enjoy the peacefulness of a rural Central Otago village. Nearby are hotels and cafes, service station and golf course or fish in the Manuherikia River. Try your luck for gold mining.
“A lovely place to stay. Well equipped and with a lovely bath - something some may be missing if travelling. We enjoyed lovely meal ( not cheap) at the Pitcher and also beer outside there. There are other places to eat - a choice in a beautiful village is great bonus. However the kitchen is well equipped to cook - good NW supermarket in Alexàndra. Ophir is only 2km from rail trail and bike hire near by so perfect to cycle part of trail if you don't want to do all. Head east for best views. A 40 km ish round trip with bit of a climb takes you to great scenery and also cafe stop for lunch. Really recommend and Russell was great host. Perfect place to enjoy this special part of central Otago!”
