We were greeted by the hosts upon arrival, and they thoroughly explained to us all of the amenities. We decided to go for the BBQ rental service for 3600 JPY (2 ppl); the host sets up the charcoal grill for you at the desired time, and his wife can help wash the vegetables if needed. They also offer breakfast, but we decided to opt out. The shower had ample hot water, albeit a few bugs (to be expected from an outdoor shower) We ended up having a great time eating Miyazaki wagyu purchased at a butcher recommended by the host :) The bedding was also quite cozy even if they weren’t actual beds. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking to do a pit stop in Yamato, especially if you’re on the road to Mount Aso / Takachiho afterwards.

A lovely place about 20 minutes drive from Saiki. Highlights were: incredible sashimi (saiki is known for its fish); local onsens (one of them over looking the sea with salt water); hiking in the surroundings and on the nearby island. I would recommend coming with a car as the bus service is fairly infrequent. However the family very kindly took time to drive us around to the places we wanted to visit. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay within walking distance of Yufuin station! The room was very clean and cozy. The Italian breakfast provided was delicious too! Especially loved the onion soup and homemade pudding! :)

Our stay with Taiji and family was simply incredible. If you are looking for a once in a life time traditional cultural experience in the most beautiful surroundings please book this accomodation. I can’t even explain how beautiful the landscape is and the meals lovingly prepared by taiji are simply works of art. He is a beautiful, talented soul. Oh and the resident cats are just gorgeous and up for a snuggle. Our greatest Airbnb experience by far. We will be thinking of our stay for many years to come.

we spent a very pleasant 4 d'ays at Kevin's place. it's directly above their café, which is a great place to start the day. Kevin and his family we're super nice, they invited us over for dinner, which was a great experience for us as a travelling family. We also did a photoshooting with Kevin, since he is a professional photographier. The house is really spacious for Japanese standards, and has a lot of nice toys for kids.Thanks for thé nice time!

We had the best time. Fusako’s home is beautiful, modern, peaceful and in an amazing setting. With a car, it is very convenient to explore the Kunisaki peninsula. Fusako gave us great local recommendations, and served us incredible breakfasts and dinners. We were sad to have to go, and hope to come back to this amazing part of Japan one day

The hospitality and food were off the charts! The food was unexpectedly incredible and the best meals we experienced on our three week trip. OKUMA and his wife were perfect hosts. It felt like a homestay. The accommodation is traditional and simple and the somewhat remote location is a perfect respite from the hectic cities. We walked up into the hills and around the island and travelled to Saiki and Oita.

The view here is breathtaking. If you're looking to get away from the crowds this is the perfect place! My son and I stayed here, we walked the shoreline and found beach glass, shells, driftwood, and bamboo, we loved it so much. The house is so comfortable and large. We had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. There is a large tub with a big window overlooking the bay, it was so relaxing. We cracked the sliding door to hear the waves at night, it was the best. The hosts are amazing people, so kind and thoughtful, they had breakfast food in the refrigerator for us and juice & milk. We ate at a tonkatsu place down the road that was great! If you have a chance to stay here, book it! There are also two ponies on the property that are adorable. We had such a wonderful stay here, thank you for letting us spend the night in your beautiful place.💜🌊 Oh, and the night view of the city across the bay is SO BEAUTIFUL!

Only that we were so excited about the dining at the restaurant that we ended up staying for two nights. The place was really clean and cozy, and I was very grateful to the owner for over 35 years. It was also close to Yufuin Station on foot, so it was easy to get to, and most importantly, the carefully served meal with relaxing music flowing in a good atmosphere was really the best. Fresh salads, deep flavors, aromatic coffee and hearty desserts were all great. After eating, I was very warm to talk to the owner, and I was touched by the meaning of the name ’Minaminokaze'. I would definitely visit again in other seasons. Once again, thank you for your hospitality and kindness.

This airbnb is actually a hotel room. Taxi driver had a lot of trouble finding the location based on the address. It was off of a dirt road which was very hard to locate in the middle of the night, which even made the taxi driver hesitant to continue driving down a completely dark road in an empty field. It would have been much easier if the host provided the actual hotel name. Other than the issue of locating the hotel and driving down a sketchy open field in the dark, the hotel stay was excellent. Very clean, very spacious, they even provided complimentary pajamas and slippers.

We enjoyed staying with Emi-san very much! In the quiet surroundings we were able to relax and with Emi-san's recommendations we were able to enjoy the area wonderfully. We would particularly like to highlight Emi-san's fantastic food, which impressed us very much and gave us a great and extensive impression of the local cuisine. We don't know how she did it, just that it was very, very delicious! In addition, Emi-san was extremely helpful and accommodating and helped us a lot with local communication and recommendations!

The wooden house 🏠 is very lovely, tidy and comfy, everything you need is well placed. The host family is very kind and friendly, made free delicious breakfast every morning and delivered to my house, which makes me feel at home. The place is easy to find and access, it takes about 20mints by walk from Yufuin JR station/bus terminal, about 12mints to walk to the lake, about less than 10mints to the bus station by walk..,it’s very convenient. Thanks for everything, I really enjoyed the stay, will definitely come back! Highly recommended!!!

Great spot! We loved the glamping accommodations. The pillows were the best I’ve seen in Japan and everything was comfortable. Host was super friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Great location for being able to do Kumamoto city and Aso national park. Would definitely stay here again!

The host always responded politely during their stay.I told you about 5 recommended restaurants, but I was told that everything was fully booked, and they gave me information about supermarkets and convenience stores. It was a good place to stay near the office where you can enjoy the sound of insects and birds in autumn. Breakfast was also a specialty, and the bread and jersey milk were delicious. I would like to take care of you next time. Thank you very much.

To summarize, it was the best experience. It was a safe and secure stay full of hospitality. The BBQ service was very friendly and they prepared the vegetables we brought. Also, the game was delicious and it went well with the seasonings provided. Finally, breakfast was full of volume, well balanced nutritionally, and colorful. I'll say it again. It was great.

I stayed with my kids and it was great! I used the BBQ service comfortably, so it was very comfortable to make fire and clean up afterwards. I was served rice balls at the service, but the salt was just right and very delicious, and I was happy that they made small onigiri for children! The space is also beautiful and we'd love to stay again.
