Oceanaire - beautiful private villa, beachfront!

EdricRating, 5 stars35 months ago
We had an amazing stay at Oceanaire! The house was clean and exactly as described. The wall air conditioners did a great job of keeping the inside of the house cool and dry. The screened-in porch was essential and we enjoyed chef-prepared dinner each night overlooking the ocean. Step outside of the screened-in porch in the evening and you would be eaten alive by mosquitos. We arrived in the midst of a tropical storm, so we have a few unique experiences to share that won't apply to most travelers. The roof is wood planks with shingles, so it is quite noisy in the living room/kitchen area when raining. I can't imagine this is a problem for a shower, but it did start to get to us after three days straight. The bedrooms have dropped ceilings which keeps it much quieter. It is also helpful to be aware that the highway can flood between the house and Governor's Harbor. If this happens, just head north to the next town instead. The house is perched >30 feet above the water, so we never felt unsafe with the high waves from the storm. The house is on the east side of the island and it is helpful to understand how different the two sides are. Immediately down the stairs from the house is a narrow beach (maybe 30 feet wide) with incredibly soft pink sand. In the week that we were there, we saw a total of 6 people. The water is not ideal for swimming since the reef is very close to the beach (this may be related to the tropical storm from the beginning of the week). On the west side of the island (specifically cocodimama's) is a beautiful beach with plentiful parking. I imagine you can walk 1/4 mile out before the water gets to your waist. While we were there, there were almost no waves on this beach. I highly recommend it! The kitchen is very functional. We hired a chef (Jacquel Kemp) due to my dietary restrictions. She cooked us excellent meals each night for dinner and served us on the patio. We expected a few more supplies (specifically we were missing dishwasher soap, coffee, and olive oil), but this was easily remedied by a stop at the grocery store. The dishwasher, stove, microwave, fridge, freezer (with ice maker), washer, and dryer were of a higher quality than I expected and were likely replaced in the recent renovation. The grill was barely functional during our stay and needs some repairs. The central air conditioning was not functioning during our stay. The wall units were excellent, keeping the temperature around 70F without breaking a sweat. Even though I am a very light sleeper and was worried that they would keep me up at night, I did not wake up once. This was helped by the very comfortable mattress. My wife and I stayed at the house alone. If you are bringing multiple couples, you should be aware that the bedroom and bathroom doors are louvered to allow air to pass through. They do a great job of visually providing privacy, but they do not block any sound. Overall, I highly recommend Oceanaire. It is so private that you would need to walk at least five minutes down the beach or up the road before seeing another house. At the same time, it has all the modern comforts that you would expect. This house is clearly loved by its owner and is rented out not just to make a profit but to share the wonderful experience.

Chat & Chill #2 Come and Relax !

RachelRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This condo is wonderful- even bigger and nicer than the pictures capture with tons of deck space. Having a washer and dryer was especially useful. Super convenient to the beach and the host Iris went way above and beyond to make sure we had everything to make our trip perfect (including helping arrange for a golf cart and taxi rides). If you’re considering staying there, do yourself a favor and do it!

Condo w/Views, Beach, Htd Pool, Golf Cart

KristinaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
One of the few places we have stayed where you find the place is even better than the pictures! Beautiful condo with ocean views of the Caribbean and a secluded Atlantic side beach a fun golf cart drive away. Would absolutely come back. Wish we could have had more days to get more use of the pickleball court and pool but there was just too many incredible beaches to explore. Appreciated Brett’s quick replies- we had an issue with one of the air conditioners and he had it fixed within 45 minutes of sending him a message! Eleuthera is heaven. However if bugs want your blood like mine I recommend Picardin lotion/spray and a daily antihistamine started before you even get to Bahamas.

Eleuthera Villa - A Surfer's Beach Destination

ChadRating, 5 stars5 days ago
The pictures and description are perfect, it's exactly as wonderful as it looks. Thanks to Mary Morgan and Todd for doing such a wonderful job maintaining their property and sharing it with us. A few notes for prospective guests--there are plenty of spices and pots/pans for cooking, towels for exploring and linens for sleeping/relaxing. You're as comfortable here as you are at home, except you're in Eleuthera so it's probably much better. Power was reliable and the wifi was flawless (if that's important to you). The path down to the beach is magical. We had a week of onshore wind and next to no surf, but there's plenty to do otherwise. You can get by here without a high clearance vehicle if you drive carefully, the roads to the house are in pretty good shape, though for many of the places we visited that's not the case. I can't recommend MM and Todd's place any more highly.

Private and Secluded Beachfront House on Deserted

GregRating, 5 stars77 months ago
Beautiful sunrises. Nicest beaches in the world are right there. We found water on Atlantic side was 75-78 degrees and 72-74 degrees on Caribbean side. Great location 15 minutes from Governor's Harbor. 2-3 bars/restaurants within 10 minutes. Car (suggest SUV) rental required. Used Neymour's Car Rental - met us at the the airport (GHB, no extra charge). Be sure to go to town for supplies/food early in the day. Eleuthera Island Farm was a good stop for local produce, baked goods, homemade foods, booze in Palmetto Point just south of Governor's. Gorgeous, private, deserted beach steps away. Clean home, equipped kitchen. Bug screens in great condition (bring DEET everywhere you go!). Awesome breeze through the house. Linda (caretaker) stopped by one morning to check in on us because we had missed her call the night before. Very friendly

Silk Road - Chinatown, Harbour Island

OliviaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
What a wonderful stay! Silk Road is beyond charming, as close as anything can be to the beach, and all in all a totally perfect Briland 1BD. We loved spending time on the porch and (especially!) the roofdeck, but nothing beat how plush and comfortable the bed was… The A/C was powerful and provided such relief after hot days on the best beach in the Bahamas. 10/10 stay, absolutely will return. Also, we left an item behind and the host was incredibly helpful and generous (returned it to us an island away within one day!) Kudos and many thanks!
