This Lakeside Retreat was a perfect weekend escape for two couples. In late September, we seemed to have the pond to ourselves and enjoyed sharing time around the firepit overlooking the lake. The Bathroom was spacious and one level up from the bedrooms downstairs. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare an excellent meal. I would highly recommend this cabin to a a small group of friends or family looking for a great location near Portland and Lake area attractions.Our host Bobbi was very responsive.

Loved Nancy's cabin! Stayed for a cold weekend in snowy February '25. Family of six with adult children, significant other, 8month old baby, and pups. Circle dirt driveway fit our three suvs with room for more (beginning of driveway is shared with house next door). Right off route 113, but hardly noticed the traffic noise, the river scenery was gorgeous and peaceful. River was frozen and there is a walking trail across the way, so we saw a few snowshoers and their pups, otherwise a secluded stay. Three bedrooms upstairs with a full bath, living room, kitchen, and one bunk room in the basement with a second living area and half bath with laundry. Kitchen was fully stocked. Cozy but enough room for us to spread out. Wifi worked well. The ramp up to the house from the driveway wasn't shoveled, nor was the deck, but one shovel was provided and we brought our own shovels to clear it for use. Also nice covered area under the deck out the basement door. Comfy beds! Cards and board games too.

Hosts were thorough and left clear and precise directions for household items and recommendations! House was located within walking distance to downtown. We chuckled watching the deer walk up the middle of the street in the am! This was the perfect location/getaway for the wedding which we were attending! You can’t beat a clean home, centrally located, and comfortable surroundings! Thanks for a beautiful Fall weekend!

We stayed over Thanksgiving. The place was just what I wanted. Big TV and fireplace. Since it was the holiday and I would be cooking I brought some pots and pans to make sure I would have what I needed. And they were needed as the kitchen is geared more toward outdoor summer meals and not cooking much inside. It was fine for the two of us in the winter. It is just as described - a log cabin, but nicely furnished.

The cottage itself was cozy and clean and we felt at home! Darlene was welcoming and attentive ensuring everything was just right for our stay! I highly recommend this charming retreat for anyone looking for a peaceful stay! It was a bit chilly so we were able to enjoy the fire pit outdoors with the wood that was provided! I can’t wait to return and stay longer! We can clearly see why this cottage has so many positive reviews!!

Loons Rest – Maine Quintessential Cottage

Loons Rest was the perfect get away spot for our 40th anniversary. We were lucky to enjoy the swimming dock in mid September as the daytime temperatures were in the upper 70's to low 80's. The lake was pristine and was warm enough for swimming still. We enjoyed watching and hearing the loons as well as the eagles and kingfishers. We loved the outdoor fire pit when the evenings turned cool as well as the indoor fireplace which is a work of art! Also the was plenty of well seasoned firewood. Everything about this place is very well thought out. If they don't have it you don't need it! The kitchen was well equipped and we were happy to find that there was everything we needed to prepare pizzas to cook on our solo stove pizza oven that we had brought along! John is a great host and responded quickly to any questions we had. Would highly recommend Loons Rest to anyone who is looking for a peaceful and relaxing spot to vacation.

From arriving to the hospitality throughout the stay to check out everything was just amazing!! Hidden gem for sure! Very relaxing cottage with a beautiful view. Very cozy, felt right at home. I used to live in Maine so returning for NYE and my daughter’s birthday and experiencing this after the fast pace living in Miami was an amazing experience, just what I needed!
