Vallakot Farm Guesthouse is a small guesthouse, located in Northeast Iceland in the middle of the Diamond circle. It is situated in a green and peaceful valley called Reykjadalur and the village Laugar is only a few kilometers away with a restaurant, grocery shop, a swimming pool and other amenities. Vallakot Farm is both a farm and a guesthouse and a place that has been in the family for decades. We have three studio apartments built in 2017 and a cabin that we finished renovate in June 2023.

Láfsgerði is by the ring road, highway no. 1 and easy to find. The easiest way is to type the name into MAPS and it will take you to the location. Láfsgerði is exceptionally well located in terms of day trips to all the most interesting places in the northeast of Iceland; Goðafoss waterfall is a 5-minute drive away Lake Mývatnssveit 20 minutes' drive Húsavík 30 min. Dettifoss 90 min. Ásbyrgi 60-70 min. Akureyri 40 min. Siglufjörður 1h and 40 min.

Charming rural cabin for couples, outdoor shower

Registered number:- HG-00020047. The cabin is 15 m2 and is a hidden nugget in our garden overlooking the fjord opposite Akureyri. The cabin was completed in April 2020. There is a kitchenette with a kettle, microwave and fridge. The WC is separate inside with a hand basin. The cabin is private and there is a half wrap around deck to enjoy the evening views and midnight skies. There is an outside shower with hot water for a natural experience.

Hidden Gem with Excellent Breakfast: The rooms were modern, clean, and nicely decorated. We shared a bathroom and two toilets with about 8 people, which worked fine. The shared kitchen was great, offering free coffee, tea, and cocoa all day. Breakfast was fantastic — a real treat in Iceland, where it’s often not included. Check-in was relaxed and welcoming — we were greeted the moment we stepped out of the car. There’s plenty of parking, and the area is quiet and scenic. Though Myvatn is about 40 minutes away, we didn’t mind at all. You do need to drive 2 km on a gravel road to get there, but it’s easy if you go slow. Highly recommended!

Miroslav und Laura waren super nett und sehr hilfsbereit. Sie haben uns viele Tipps gegeben, was es in der Umgebung alles zu tun und sehen gibt. Die Unterkunft war sehr gemütlich und leicht zu erreichen, mit einer fantastischen Aussicht aus dem Wohnzimmer. Allgemein ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt!

It took some effort to find this place, but it was definitely worth it. The house is clean, the host is friendly, and although it's across the river from Akureyri, it's not too far—after all, most people staying here are probably driving anyway. Overall, I'd give it a 4.2 out of 5.

Anna is an amazing lady who will entertain you with his local stories. Also, she provided excellent suggestions of places to visit. I got upgraded for free to the flat and it was such a great place. I wish I could live there. You can not go wrong by booking this place.
