Buathip's place is that rarest of gems. It feels rural and peaceful at the same time as it is comfortable, updated, and surrounded by nature. The overall 'vibe' in both homes on the property is welcoming and yet not intrusive, surrounded by more greenery and vegetation than anywhere else I have ever stayed in Thailand. One can practice yoga in the morning while looking out over the large pond and up into the durian trees, or hike up the surrounding hills. past an array of vegetation, including of course banana trees, and all manner of flora and even fauna There is even a lovely temple within a few meters of Ban San Homestay. If you want to venture slightly further afield, the town of Maechan is a relatively short (2 kilometre) walk or motorbike ride, with a range of outdoor markets. Maechan even has a once-weekly Friday afternoon and evening farmer's market. If you are thinking of a bucolic, pastoral setting to experience northern Thailand, then you have already found it right here.

The house was pleasant, clean, cozy, comfortable and located close to the university. The owner and her mother were very nice and welcoming. We really appreciated their friendliness and welcoming vibe. Thank you both for an awesome stay in your lovely home. When we come back to Chiang Rai we will surely stay here again!!!

It's a great place to stay if you rent a car as it is a little bit far from the city centre. Having said that, the location is quiet and peaceful, suitable for a retreat. Owner is very kind and responsive.

Pangthong Eco-Homestay

Great homestay! Definitely were we will go on our next visit. Beautiful location, great hospitality and of course clean and comfortable rooms. The owners were open and helpful to provide us with directions to nearby sights and advised us on things to do in the area. The homestay is located a bit out of Chiang Rai and located amidst the hills. This makes it a great place for relaxing and to enjoy the nature of Chiang Rai. We did come with our own transport, which is advised in general as it just makes you far more flexible than using local vans or such. We stayed 3 days and rented a car to drive there (and around) ourselves.

Cabin in Dong Mahawan

Paa & Michaels Resort

JadeRating, 5 stars13 months ago
This place was amazing. An actual oasis. The only downfall is that it is far away from the heart of Chiang Rai, and the pool was dirty so we couldn’t swim. . Honestly, I’d come back. The scenery was amazing. AND the hosts let us use a motorbike for free during our stay!!!! For real, come check this place out. The hosts were veryyyy kind. They picked us up from central Chiang Rai for free. Thank you so much. 💘

Orchard Cottage

David AndrejRating, 5 stars64 months ago
Thank you Rob! Staying at your orchard cottage was like staying at a Buddhist sanctuary. Just being there was very meditative. The warmth of the teak wood and the big windows connecting you with the nature around it almost made us feel bad going to the outside world. One of the best things that happened was, when Rob and his wife Fern organised a massage for us at the cottage. After we had the massage we could just enjoy the peace and quiet of the place. Rob and Fern are great hosts that live nearby and are willing to help with anything. Having nice and warm people that are fluent in English as hosts makes the stay in northern Thailand even more pleasing. Please take care of the cottage if you go there and take time to enjoy it! It realy is our sanctuary now and we would definitely like to visit it again. :) David and Monika

fong ar gard house

TonnyRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Jina her place felt right at home and we were happy to have chosen her tiny house for our stay in Chiang Rai. The only downsides is the shower because you dont have a lot of water pressure. Besides the early wakeups from the rooster and the dogs this was a perfect stay. We are very grateful for the recommendations and the easiness of renting a scooter, doing your laundry and the breakfast was perfect

Cozy little wood home in Chiangrai,Imsuk-3

VivianeRating, 5 stars71 months ago
Pimphaka's cabanas are very sweet and lovely. Even though it isn't in the city center (we booked a motorbike for 2 days), our stay was just perfect! We loved it being a little bit away from the city center. Anyway, the most impressive sights are all outside and therefore you better rent a motorbike to reach them!

Imsuk Homestay at Chiang Rai

DirkRating, 5 stars17 months ago
Our recent stay at this charming homestay in Chiang Rai was nothing short of exceptional. As a group of four with a furry companion, we were delighted by the warm welcome we received. The wood house exuded a rustic charm and was impeccably clean, making us feel right at home. The beds deserve a special mention for their incredible comfort, ensuring a restful night's sleep. What truly set this place apart was the tranquility and the meticulous attention to detail in every corner, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. Pimphaka and her staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The breakfasts were a culinary delight, and their thoughtfulness in preparing an early special breakfast at 6:40 AM on our departure day was greatly appreciated. This homestay is a gem in Chiang Rai, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful retreat
