Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Mount Desert

This is a beautiful hidden little gem. The cottage is right on the water facing west, perfect to catch the sunsets every night. The place is comfortable and homey. The local store (Dunbar’s) had everything we needed and more, including a deli and hot food. We enjoyed some time in Acadia, which is about an hour drive, but trust me it was worth the drive to stay at Plover’s Cottage. I would definitely stay again. Mark, the host, was available for questions and even brought more firewood to make sure we got to enjoy the fireplace.

Very pleasant place to stay and the owners were very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Very responsive. Would give more than 5 stars if I could. Highly recommend.

So many great things to stay about this fantastic Airbnb: amazing location, gorgeous backyard, everything was clean and neat. The hosts had excellent communication and were responsive as questions came up. They had great recommendations for supermarkets, hikes, local restaurants. There were so many little things that showed attention to detail: sound machines in every room, jewelry bowls on nightstands, good quality cosmetics, detergent for the washing machine, etc. The house has 3 bedrooms: all the linens were clean and neat. The one thing to keep in mind is that the third bedroom was smaller and had less space than the other two with no furniture - this would be perfect for a family with kids but was not ideal for 3 friends traveling since not all the bedrooms were exactly equitable. Overall, we had an amazing experience - it was such a pleasure to stay there.

Our family had the best, most relaxing vacation at Evergreen Hill! Everything was fresh, clean, and comfortable. Our dogs loved the fenced backyard but their parents loved that feature even more! We enjoyed being close to Southwest Harbor, Seawall, and Bass Harbor Head Light. Our hosts thought of everything for tourists with dogs, and our family was so appreciative. The neighborhood is private and quiet. We opened windows and listened to the birds every morning. We wholeheartedly recommend Evergreen Hill!!

James’ place was absolutely amazing! The views of the lake are stunning and he graciously accepts dogs in his home. We had access to the canoe and kayaks and fire pit, which could easily be enough for a stay in the house. The house was clean and in a private area. I would recommend this lake house to anyone looking for a quiet retreat. If I were to stay here again, the only thing I would do is probably bring my own pans to cook with.

We are a family of five with three teens. The space was perfect for us to all hang out together and play a board game at the dining table, as well as spread out and have plenty of down time in our own rooms. I thought it was a nice touch that the front door was open and the keys were in the kitchen. Great to have bathrooms in each of the rooms. When we were planning our trip, we weren't 100 percent sure if our pet care person was going to be available, and Sarah was very responsive and flexible with us asking if we could add our dogs at the last minute. We didn't need to bring them, but it was so helpful to know that we could. We bot a huge box of pastries from Clark Point Cafe, and we would have gone back and sat down for a full breakfast if they had been open on our second morning. I guess that gives us an excuse to come back! The back yard view is private and beautiful. So much to like about our stay. Hard to fit it all in here. Thanks to Sarah and her family for everything.

This house is remarkably beautiful and welcoming. The walls of windows welcome sunshine throughout and the private views of the water are unmatched. Artistic details abound in the interior - like Anthro and West Elm had a baby. We vacationed with our toddler and my in-laws and we all had ample space to gather, as well as disperse. Highly recommend! Local recs: The Activity Shop for kayak rental delivery, pizza from Blaze, coffee from Bucklyn, brunch at Humblebee Cafe, sundries from Blue Hill Co-op, blueberry pie from Mount Desserts (on way to Acadia).

A beautiful house in a beautiful location! Beth was wonderful to deal with and very communicative. She kept in touch with us prior to our trip, and she patiently answered any questions we had during the trip. The views from the patio and living room are fantastic, and the area is very quiet. Both the Park and Bar Harbor are a short drive a way. This is a great place to stay on a trip to Bar Harbor.

What a wonderful experience! Rebecca was an absolutely outstanding host, always quick to respond and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. My family and I had such a peaceful stay. The home and location were incredibly tranquil, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The house and property were absolutely beautiful, and we loved sipping our morning coffee on the amazing balconies with the breathtaking views. There is so much space, and every room in the house is well thought out, functional, and cozy. The pool is even better than we hoped, so big and clean and in immaculate condition. We spent most of our time swimming and relaxing by the pool. We also enjoyed playing pool and having so many rooms to gather in with the comfort of plenty of new comfy furniture. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind for a vacation away from all the noise and chaos of daily life. Every single area was as described in the listing and better. Adorable cottage, newly renovated. Perfect for two with an open space loft for one more. Kitchen is well stocked right down to the coffee. A good location if visiting Fort Knox, Mt. Barrie and not too far from Bar Harbor if that is on your list. Great stay, highly recommend. Beautiful view and private.

My return visit to the Boathouse was even lovelier than I hoped it would be. The location can't be matched by anything else I've seen. I enjoyed a September visit with my dog and was lucky to have pristine weather. I lived a very simple and healthy outdoors life and came home the better for it. The Boathouse is true to its description: it is simple and rustic and uncomplicated but well-equipped, and is perfect for one-and-dog, or for two people. A little coming-and-going from the neighboring houses meant that I didn't feel isolated. Margaret is truly an exceptional and friendly host who communicates promptly and clearly. I almost hesitate to share "my" Boathouse location with too many of my back-home friends because it feels so intimate and special. I already want to be back there. I offer my deep thanks to Margaret and to the place that I could - briefly - call home.

We got a very rainy week in Maine but still enjoyed the beautiful, comfortable and well stocked house, views, decks and incredible garden. Beautiful restaurants, bookstores and wine and antique shops near by. Hope to return to very soon.

I recently stayed with my family at this incredible Airbnb that exceeded all my expectations. This property offered a hot tub, a pool table, and a level of privacy and tranquility that made for a truly relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was being able to watch the northern lights from the hot tub – it was absolutely magical. We spent a week in Acadia, and the location was perfect, just 15-20 minutes from Bar Harbor or the nearest town. The hosts were very responsive, and the place was fantastic for families, being both kid and pet friendly. It was a week filled with unforgettable moments, and I can't recommend this place enough!

The location was perfect - you didn’t need your car to get around. We were right at the main square or park with lots of interesting shops and restaurants close by. We were 10 minutes from Acadia National Park. Highly recommend spending the extra $6 to drive up Cadillac Mountain. The unit was well appointed, clean, and had games for the kids to play. I did’t care for the shower but I am not used to a claw-foot tub shower. Overall really enjoyed our stay!

A great place to stay in such a great area. Feels so in the middle of nowhere but in a good way. The stars are beautiful at night, the house was gorgeous, and they have plenty of games to play since there is no TV. But we didn’t miss the TV at all! Whoever sleeps upstairs will be forced to wake up with the sun because of the lack of curtains but also not a bad problem to have :) And the bathroom floors are heated, which is such a nice amenity!

Cozy little cabin right by the road that goes to Acadia national park, which makes it very convenient for people planning to visit Acadia and Bar Harbor. It had everything we needed: comfy bed, coffee maker, little fridge, functional bathroom, television. Communication with Maria was great, as she was always friendly and responded quickly to questions.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at this beautiful home! The house was spotless, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The host was equally wonderful. So kind, welcoming, and responsive. She made check-in a breeze and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything I needed. It’s clear she genuinely care about her guests experience. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, comfortable, and well-cared-for stay.

My partner and pup spent a long weekend here and it was awesome! Our cabin was tucked towards the back of the property which we enjoyed and the space was even better than we anticipated. Quiet and peaceful, clean, and had everything we needed. Awesome location and recommendations too! Will definitely come back again!

Bendigo and Jenni were great hosts from the start. They communicated before we arrived and checked in with us regularly throughout our stay to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Their house is beautiful and looks just like the photos. Every room was meticulously clean and so lovely. The location is very private and peaceful. After a day of hiking and sightseeing it felt like coming home each evening. We would definitely book again with Bendigo and Jenni on our future trips to MDI.

Hall Quarry is a gem in and of itself within the greater Acadia area. The Sound behind the property is pristine in the early morning, even with some rain (which we learned happens on and off, in April-May at least). The home was a place to lay our heads after traversing as many as we could have the Park’s trails, islands, mountains, carriage roads, beaches, and downtown Bar Harbor streets. Our pup felt safe and relaxed when we finished our day. It was clean, stocked with essentials, and met all of our needs. The deck at night and early morning with the sounds bugs and the birds is a nice touch with coffee. Joe was accessible, communicative, and had GREAT recommendations for hikes, food, and other activities. 10 out of 10, would stay again.
