Hideo was incredibly kind—he even picked us up at night, which was a huge help after a long journey. The location was a bit challenging to find initially, but he provided clear step-by-step directions that made it much easier. The place was clean and cozy, and the overall experience was great.

A quiet inn full of sunlight, 10 minutes on foot from Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine and the hot springs! The perfect inn for the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage and cycling

Super friendly host and very charming old Japanese-style house. Cooking in the outdoor kitchen was a fun experience! The cluttered outdoor area added to the charm of the place and Eiko-san, and inside the house it was tidy and fairly clean!:) The area is super quiet and you can hear lots of birds, overall a very relaxing place. Eiko-san also has lots of good recommendations for nearby activities! However, if you’re a tall person - like my boyfriend - be aware that the doors are made for smaller Japanese people back in the day… lots of head bumping and headache potential if not careful! Since the bathroom is fairly small I went for a bath in a nearby bathhouse, a very short walk and very very affordable.

Private space 1 minute walk from the beach, Yamaguchi private lodging

My son and I stayed with Miwa-san last year and had a fantastic time. On this year's trip to Japan, we are going to places we haven't been to before , but we both felt we had to include Susami again. Susami is a beautiful town, but what really makes the difference is the kindness of Miwa-san and her friends. We hope to visit again next year.

Minshuku Katsuya

First of all, this is a homestay in an old Japanese style house, which means you need to take off your boots after entering the door Wear slippers provided in the homestay (shared) Activities in the common area, and your own room needs bare feet. This old house is definitely not soundproof, but everyone will be quiet. The owner carefully introduces various facilities in English/body language and may need an occasional translator that does not speak Japanese.Seeing you and chatting with you. The location is great, two steps away is the sandy beach and there is a commercial street 24h supermarket nearby, this location is really cost-effective. It is suitable for visitors who are less demanding for accommodation and with a more limited budget. Finally, I love Shirahama and am very happy to stay here.
