The warmth and snugness from the wood stove and great selection of books made it a great place to stay even in bad weather. Comfortable beds and duvets but I found the single bed mattresses too firm for me

Sandy is an amazing host, warm and welcoming. Marta and Alan were also so nice. The room was clean and tidy, linens were fresh. When I was there, the weather was a bit chilly, so the warm blankets on the bed were so nice. This is such a cool place to be, a building with history that Sandy excitedly shared, and the view of Mt Ruapehu was, frankly, incredible. I 1000% recommend this place (and Sandy) to others.

Loved my stay at Keith’s. It was warm and inviting felt like home. It has everything you could need and is set in a beautiful place with views of the mountain. Highly recommend.

The Retreat was fantastic - so good we wish that we could have stayed for longer than one night. Peaceful setting overlooking the water - the view from cottage 3 was incredible in my opinion. The owners greeted us upon arrival, provided great local restaurant recommendations and otherwise ensured we had whatever we needed. Tons of space for our family of 4. The property gives off a classic vibe, and it is clear they are updating and upgrading the units with new amenities, appliances, etc. The wood burning stove added a warm ambiance for a peaceful family movie night overlooking the lights across the lake. A highlight of our roadtrip so far.

Love the retreat. The hosts were extremely kind & accomodating and the house was absolutely beautifully clean. It’s a bonus we could take our dogs, they loved the lake!

The Retreat was absolutely perfect for our stay in Taupo! Sparkling clean, super comfortable beds and stunning views of the lake from every window, sitting out on the balcony for breakfast was a delight. We had a fabulous stay at The Retreat on our way through to Wellington. We really appreciated being able to have our small dog stay with us and the place was stunning. Beautiful views, gorgeous gardens and spotless inside. Last minute booking and no problems with checking in late via the lockbox. Annie was super friendly and the vibe was calm and peaceful. Can highly recommend!

Good clean property which is close to the city center - a short 5 mins drive. Having your own vehicle is recommended. The place is fully equipped and great for a group of 3-5 people.
