A house on the estuary of a VERY BIG river ie - Lower Breede river - about 15km from the sea, the house is set back about about 15m from the river . It is completely off the grid , ie only solar power and rainwater. It might not suit city dwellers who need every gadget and convenience but its heaven for the hardier ones Please bring bedding and towels . The are pillows and various duvet inners but we don't have a washing machine so we cannot supply linen

What an amazing experience! Our family of four loved our stay, we will definitely visit this gem again. The unit had everything we needed, and the views of the Breede River is just magical.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The host and owner were both very friendly and helpful. The place was clean and comfortable, and had everything you would need for your stay. We worked remotely from here and the setup was perfect. It was very accessible to the lagoon for kitesurfing. Also had a nice big area for washing kiting gear.

We had such a nice vacation Exactly as per pictures, even better All the appliances was top of the range, it was such an awesome experience to prepare meals in this kitchen and the view was spectacular

Leigh’s house has unparalleled views of the river estuary. The home is very well appointed and in a secure estate. It’s close enough to moor your boat at the Breede river lodge which is very convenient. We will be back again for sure.

Highly recommended! Views are to die for, better described as magical. Host was very attentive. Witsand is the perfect spot to unwind and really feel like you are on holiday. We'll be back!

Absolutely lovely place! The house is spacious and comfortable, perfect for family groups and such a lovely setting right on the Breede. The pool table, table tennis, lovey big lawn, hot tub etc. meant there was plenty to do at the house. Philip was very helpful too- loved all the tips and useful information about the area. I highly recommend Breede River Ultimate Retreat.

A spacious bedroom features a king extra length size bed with neutral bedding and decorative cushions. Natural light floods in through large windows overlooking greenery. A sleek black bookshelf and a decorative rug enhance the room's modern aesthetic, while a fan hangs from the ceiling.

The fishing was great — the fish were biting, and the kids were especially thrilled when they caught their first fish! In the evenings, we gathered around the fire, enjoying toasted snacks, heartfelt conversations, and lots of laughter. These were truly warm, meaningful days that I’d love to relive.
