Christoph and Mona, were outstanding hosts, and are with you every step of the way. The Beach location offers near perfect untouched nature, the ocean is rich with aquatic life, making the fishing truly amazing. The waves didn't calm during our stay so swimming wasn't possible, however it made the scenery even more spectacular. After spending time with Christoph I began to realise quickly how passionate and genuine he is about their chosen way of life, he is an asset to Maio and held in high regard. They ask nothing in return for all the help received during the stay, and truly enjoy the social company of good honest people, guests appear welcome to be part of their everyday life. Their dogs and cats are well behaved, we looked forward to seeing Lucy +1 each morning guests should appreciate you are living off grid and must be conscious of power used. your own wifi dongle would be recommended if it's essential you. Thank you both so much, and I look forward to meeting you again.

The house is just like in the photographs, a wooden construction in which nothing has been left to chance and which is filled with small details and revealing details of the love and affection with which it was built and appreciated. Like any wooden house, it is already showing small points in need of maintenance, but nothing serious. The view from the house on the outer porch is stunning and it's precisely what we loved the most. To stay outside at night, observing the immensity of the starry sky and in silence, only with the sound of the sea, was equally pleasant. The perfect home to welcome us with our family. We leave with great desire to return for more days. Small appliances missing can improve the experience (kettle or coffee maker). On the contiguous terrain of the house a new dwelling is being built, which removes privacy from the porch. Workers are respectful and do not start making noise too early.

Amazing! If you don’t stay here, you are missing out on a fantastic experience. Chris and Mona are incredible. such kind, generous and welcoming people. The meals they served us were so fresh and tasty, there are also lots of fun activities like snorkelling and fishing available here. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back again! Kindly Bernard agreed to pick us up for free from our previous accommodation. He accommodated us in a larger, very nice house. Valerie and Bernard do everything to make our stay enjoyable: bike loan, informed advice, we really enjoyed the visit to her friend Raphaël Colicci who founded the Maioasis agroforestry farm:an extraordinary project to develop autonomous farms for social and solidarity purposes on the island of Maio.

Bernard and Valerie were very hopitable, kind and friendly with amazing tips about what to do in the island. When Bernard learned we liked birds, he went out of his way to take us around good spots for watching them. We were lucky to be there for Christmas and were invited to a great party in the village with their friends. When our flight was delayed they were helpful and flexible for us to find solutions. The house is quiet, comfortable and well equipped, a pleasure to cook in. Highlighted for us were the sunset views from the rooftop, riding the electric bikes to a deserted beach, really sweet dogs, resting by the pool and closeness Bernard and Valerie have to their neighbors in the village.

Very nice accommodation, well located and very clean on the beautiful island of Maio. We arrived at 9am and were able to directly access the accommodation with transportation included from the port. The infinity pool is very well maintained and allows you to perfectly contemplate the sunset. Access to a private beach is also present and allows extreme tranquility.

Patricia and her husband offer a magnificent house with the most beautiful view! The apartment offered everything we needed - a pool, quiet rooms, a well equipped kitchen and an outdoor BBQ and all support we could think of of Patricia and her staff. All in all: we had a wonderful stay in Maio, it is really an island to calm down, enjoy nature, sun and the sea. Thanks a lot!

This is a lovely house, with a large living room, a fully stocked kitchen, a veranda, overlooking the ocean. The house is very quiet, cozy, the pool is literally behind the neighboring house. From the pool you can walk down to the small beach. Big great beaches within a 10 minute walk. Nearby there are several shops, with a good assortment of products. And most importantly: we saw whales right from the veranda of our house, it's incredible!

A cozy sleeping area features a bed dressed in a plaid patterned coverlet and matching pillows. Soft towels are neatly placed on the bed. A bright, striped curtain allows natural light to enter the room, complementing the warm tones of the walls.

If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! Staying at Martina's house in May was one of those experiences that we take for life. The house is simple, cozy and full of personality — perfect for those looking for peace, authenticity and want to really feel the island vibe. Martina is an amazing person, super welcoming, the kind that makes you feel at home from the first moment. Always ready to help and give tips. The place is ideal for those who want to disconnect and experience the truest side of Maio, with a breathtaking sunset and that good silence that soothes the soul. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who wants more than just a place to sleep. Thank you, Martina, for making my stay so special. I'll definitely be back one day!

Great host, very responsive to any issues with a shuttle service from the free port it was really great! The host was not there but we were still very well welcomed by Ilario and his wife I recommend this place if you go through Vila do Maio because it is very well located!

We so enjoyed staying at this lovely apartment in Maio! We especially appreciated the generous space and the lovely porch, with chairs for sitting and looking out toward the ocean. There are lots of nearby restaurants, so we didn't use the kitchen much, but it's well-equipped for home cooking. The apartment is near two beaches - the public beach that's very close is good for swimming, and Ponta Preta, a 10 minute walk away, is lovely for long walks by a beautiful ocean. Hans-Peter is a super helpful host, with lots of knowledge about Maio; the airport pick-up was especially helpful! We'd certainly stay here again.

We had a lovely stay, the accommodation is clean, well-equipped, nicely decorated, located in a quiet and peaceful setting. The city center and beach are within walking distance. Franklin is a great person, he took the time to answer all our questions, he was very friendly and super welcoming. I highly recommend it!

Hanspeter was a accommodating host and we are grateful for his energetic organizational support ahead of our trip. The bungalows are very nicely decorated and extremely clean. They are located on the outskirts of the village, it is only a few minutes walk to the beach and there is a little more peace in the evening than in the village center. If you are looking for relaxation and tranquility paired with warm climate, Maio and Hanspeter will not be disappointed!

We spent a week here and it was excellent. The house is basic but comfy. The property is very calm and since the studio is on a side path, not many people walk in front. The pool and it's view on the ocean and sunset is just breathtaking. The beach down a few stairs is super nice and easy sandy access to swim. When snorkeling you can spot some very nice fish and rock formation. The property is minutes away from the center, shops and food places. Make sure to try "Cha-cha Chicken" (location on G.maps, just 1 minute walk) and the tuna (atum) at the restaurant on the Fort José. The welcoming was great, the staff is very friendly. There was no welcome basket for us at arrival but it is not important. We got picked up at the port by someone with a Stella Maris sign (which is the name of the property). Pick up was fast and no issues there. Overall very nice stay and would recommend to anyone looking for peace, great swimming experiences and easy access to town.
