The building was built in 1979 with a design by an architect.The wooden ceiling, the atrium corridor, the skylights that let in bright light, and other features make it a unique space that doesn't feel like a building from half a century ago.We have incorporated modern interiors into the space to create a calm atmosphere for families and groups. The first floor has a bright living room facing the garden and a Japanese-style room, and there are plenty of toys and picture books for children to play with.There are 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor, so it is comfortable for multiple families and group trips.In addition, there is a room that can be used as a workspace, so it is also recommended for remote work and long-term stays. Close to Tobu Shim-Imaichi Station, you might even hear the steam whistle of the Taiki if you're lucky in the evening. 8-tatami Japanese-style room (bamboo room), 6-tatami Japanese-style room (temple style), 8-tatami living room (retro style) IH kitchen, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, fridge, washing machine, gas dryer, etc. are fully equipped, so you can use this place as a base for sightseeing in Nikko, Kinugawa, Ashio, and Kuriyama. There is also a parking lot, making it ideal for touring with fellow bikers. Breakfast is a free loaf of freshly baked bread (home bakery). Mountain Biking, Calligraphy, Games, BBQ (The usage fee for charcoal is 2,000 yen per use. Dishes are available for rent, so please prepare your ingredients at a nearby supermarket.) Advance reservation is required. In the evening, I also run a tavern next door, so you can enjoy delicious food and drinks.

Rest peacefully in the tatami mat room on Japanese futons lined with pillows. Parking is also available for up to 2 station wagon sized vehicles. In addition, due to the enforcement of the new Private Lodging Law (Residential Accommodation Business Law) on June 15, 2018, government agencies are required to fill in the list of guests, and foreigners who do not have an address in Japan are required to present their passports.Therefore, we ask for permission to fill in the guest list and present your passport and copy at the time of staying.We appreciate your understanding.

Welcome to Richard Flavin's Washi House! Richard Flavin (1943–2020) was a Japanese paper artist originally from the US. He studied design in Boston and came to Japan in 1970. He later studied woodblock printing and developed a deep interest in the production of washi. He also cultivated the raw material for washi paper, paper mulberry. We invite those interested in washi paper and art to stay overnight and enjoy this space, reminiscent of a washi paper museum, including these unfinished areas.
