The space
Situated in the exclusive Casa de Campo Resort on the south coast of the Dominican Republic, La Vera is the epitome of beachfront Caribbean comfort and the perfect luxury retreat for a family vacation. Surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden, where butterflies and hummingbirds are a common sight, the villa boasts an impressive infinity swimming pool overlooking a private beach, just beyond a lush coconut grove. Two gazebos with decks provide shade and a wonderful spot to set up daytime refreshments and evening cocktails. The smaller gazebo has glass windows that can be closed, turning the space into an air-conditioned area with television and DVD player. Next to the pool, the larger open gazebo has large sofas, lounge chairs and a dining table for ten, allowing you to enjoy long, leisurely meals in the cool ocean breeze.
Harmoniously combining elements of modernism and local Caribbean architecture, this five-bedroom villa captures the best in indoor/outdoor living. In the center of the house, a patio with a fish pond and palm trees brings in plenty of natural light. Next to it, the main sitting area consists of a large living room and a raised dining area, that opens onto a covered terrace. Equipped with a breakfast table, lounge chairs, a swing bench and sofas, it is the perfect spot to start your day or relax in the shade with a book. The villa also comprises a spacious fully equipped kitchen, a laundry area with washing machine, drier and sink, and two maid quarters with built-in closets and bathrooms.
Sleeping up to ten guests on two levels, La Vera offers a choice of beautifully appointed bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and ceiling fans. Three bedrooms with two queen sized beds each and access to the garden can be found downstairs – including one with a panoramic ocean view. The second floor has two ocean facing rooms with king sized beds, including a master bedroom. Both open to a terrace with stunning views of the beach and the Caribbean Sea.
Most people know Casa de Campo for its golf, namely three championship courses by Pete Dye, including The Teeth of the Dog, which is considered his masterpiece.
