Very nice location in safe and friendly small village in the middle of palm trees, 5 minutes walk from nice sandy beach with local places to eat. Our host recommended many good places and provided useful information. Highly recommend!
An open-air lounge area features comfortable seating with colorful cushions and a natural thatched roof. The space is surrounded by greenery, with ambient lighting highlighting the cozy atmosphere. A large shell sits prominently in the foreground, contributing to the beach-themed decor.

Mafia Beach Bungalows

It is a nice beachfront hotel with large rooms and a lot of space. I felt very comfortable here.
The clear, shallow waters reveal a vibrant underwater scene, with gentle waves lapping at the shore. A line of palm trees borders a sandy beach, extending into the distance under a bright blue sky, creating a serene coastal landscape.

Mafia Kua Garden Cottage

Hassani is a friendly and helpful host. Your listing is conveniently located. Being a cheap place to stay, you can't expect the comforts of resorts. Our stay was pleasant, despite the room being quite small in size, so with bulky luggage it is difficult to pass around the bed. The bedroom and bathroom have the door, while the anti-bathroom where there is a sink, is separated from the common area of the accommodation only by a tent. There is no air conditioning, but at night you can sleep well with the fan, while during the day the room is a little warm. The outdoor living room with restaurant area is the real gem of the accommodation: nice and fresh; here if you decide to be delighted by Hassani's kitchen you will enjoy excellent dishes. Unfortunately, last night there was a small misunderstanding with guests dining out, so these people used our bathroom, but Hassani immediately resolved the misunderstanding.
A shaded wooden terrace is covered with climbing vines, providing a natural canopy. Colorful flowers add a touch of vibrancy along the railing. The rustic structure is surrounded by a serene environment, offering a quiet space to relax amid nature.

Mafia Island Bungalows

100% our fault but we were not able to actually stay or make it to the island. All communication and everything from the host was extremely professional and timely.
The image captures two people standing side by side on a sandy beach. The serene ocean stretches in the background, showcasing shades of blue and turquoise. A clear sky with wispy clouds completes the coastal scene.

Mafia island homestay experience

BonnieRating, 5 stars15 months ago
He was very accommodating to us. And even took us to the beach on his motorcycle. Polite and friendly. When you’re in Africa at a Third World country do not expect much. Because their culture is very different from ours. We’ve been to several places and we would rate these equally. They have toilets and showers but no hot water. Sometimes they say they have Wi-Fi but they do not the electricity is spotty. Not their fault but wash their clothes and sheets in what we would call dirty water but for them it is normal. To us, their streets and tiny grocery stores would be considered filthy but remember you’re in a Third World and as long as you’re willing to accept it. The sheets towels and beds were always in good shape and very comfortable. If you are not into snorkeling to me, it was just OK or scuba diving. Or time for the whale sharks. And the only thing left to do here is to write a book, not much, but to accept the culture as it is. Felt safe, but you smile first to be friendly.
A sandy beach scene features a simple canvas shelter supported by wooden poles. A small group of people relaxes beneath the shade, while a person walks along the shoreline. The clear blue sky and calm water set a serene backdrop.

Chole Art1 - Mafia Island

NicolasRating, 5 stars6 months ago
We stayed in Chole Sana for two days. We were greeted by Rajab the owner's brother who was a very nice host. The accommodation overlooks the bay of Chole and the place is very quiet. No worries about electricity. Rajab was very available, showed us around the village and even offered various activities (visit ruins on the island of Juani, lunch on a sand bank...). The diving clubs in the city of Utende that are on Mafia can even pick you up directly on Chole and take you back there. We loved our stay, you can go there without hesitation to enjoy this haven of peace.
