In the summer, the fresh green rice swaying in the breeze plays a refreshing tune. In the fall, the rice terraces surrounded by golden ears of rice shine on the horizon. In winter, the straw bales piled up after the rice harvest create a winter wonderland in the rice terraces. Iruka Onsen (Takisuiso): A hot spring facility located downstream of the beautiful Takisuigawa Gorge. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the Kitayama River from the open-air bath. 2. Yunokuchi Onsen: A secret hot spring surrounded by the nature of Kumano. You can enjoy the hot spring baths fed directly by the source spring. 3. Fuden Oroshi: You can experience the mysterious morning fog from fall to spring. 4. Maruyama Senmaida: A beautiful terraced rice field with about 1,340 rice fields, with seasonal changes as its charm. 5. Kazeden Toge: You can walk along a beautiful rural landscape and mossy cobblestone paths. 6. Yokogake Pass: A pilgrimage road to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine. It features a beautiful cobblestone road. 7. Oroshi Shrine: A shrine where you can feel the history that has continued since the Edo period.

Located in Totsugawa Village, Nara Prefecture, Wakayama and Mie prefectures are right next door, and it is close to tourist attractions such as the World Heritage Kumano Kodo, Rorikyo, Tamaki Shrine, and Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, as well as hot springs such as Yuguchi Onsen, Kawa Onsen, Yuno Mine Onsen, and Totsugawa Onsen. The entire space, which includes a loft with a staircase dance and a renovated basement of an old potato field, is also used as a place for artists to stay and create, depending on the period. You can enjoy nature and art with ONKAI, an outdoor sculpture by a German artist, a 2-3 minute walk away. Breakfast, bento, and dinner are optional, and we offer vegetarian menus using vegetables from the Kumano area. ⚠︎ Because the river is close and the area is surrounded by nature, there are many insects in the warm season, and they may enter the room. Please make a reservation after understanding the characteristics of the place rich in nature. ⚠︎ We are renovating an old private house built over 100 years ago, and we are using the charm of the old wood as it is. Limited to one group per day, Guest House Agai is convenient for walking the Kumano Kodo and playing in the river. You can experience country life.

Guest House Agae is a renovated traditional house that can only accommodate one group at a time. It is in a very convenient location, about 550 m (about 7 minutes on foot) to Kumano Kodo and Kinkou Oji, a supermarket (A-COOP), a bus stop (Kodo Aruki no Sato Chikatsuyu), and restaurants (Shoji Teahouse and Tororo-ya). The owner is a local Kumano Kodo guide, so we will do our best to accommodate your questions and advice about walking the Kumano Kodo, as well as pick-up and drop-off when you need it. We can also provide personal guides, so please let us know. Prices do not include meals. Farm Stay AMAYADORI Here, Ikuse-cho, Kumano City, Mie Prefecture, is a rural village with mountains, rivers, fields, and the original Japanese landscape. We are a small farmer who grows rice, vegetables, herbs and flowers. During your stay, we provide rice and vegetables that we grow, as well as fresh eggs from Kumano. The kitchen is also fully equipped with seasonings and cooking utensils. We hope you will enjoy cooking with everyone. My guidebook has information about the surrounding area. Our house is called Kamikura-Hideaway. It is a small 50-year-old house located at the foot of Kamikura Shrine. Contemporary artist Fulbrn revived it as the art piece "Narrative Space." Since this house once served as a geologist's hideaway, bits of history are scattered throughout the building. Our uniqueness has even been featured in the travel media AFAR, reflecting our commitment to a memorable guest experience. We hope you will enjoy touching someone's story "floating" around the room.

Experience a stay in a traditional Japanese house, tucked inside the forested mountains of the Yoshino Valley. This converted farmhouse is located in Kawakami Village, the source of the Yoshino/Kino river. The house sits just above an idyllic swimming spot, perfect for families to enjoy the cool, clear waters Guests will have the full property to themselves, which includes a handmade cedar bathtub with views across the river. There is also outdoor space to enjoy barbecuing under the stars.

Nostalgic Beach House A private guesthouse in Nigishima, Kumano City, facing the calm Nigishima Bay. To reach it, climb about 50 steps (5 min) for a rewarding view. *Note: not suitable for those with limited mobility. There is no TV or clock—disconnect and relax. *Extra fee applies for 2+ guests. For safety, a motion-sensor camera is at the entrance; it only takes still photos when someone passes, never continuous video, ensuring privacy.

"Genki House", a house near Kumano Hongu-Taisha

It’s a house 8km from the Hongu Taisha. (about 15 minutes' drive) If you have a car it's more convenient, but if not I'll be happy to drive you to and from a bus stop or a tourism spot in Hongu area. My family run an organic farm, bakery, NPO offering long-stay for the youth, and an alternative school for children nearby. You'll have some loaves of bread from our bakery(^^)/ （If you don't eat bread please let me know beforehand)

Mikiura Guesthouse

Reservation start from 2 person / 2 nights minimum. We accept only one group at a time so you will have exclusive use of the entire property. Guesthouse is a typical old Japanese house, not like a resort Hotel or Ryokan for business. We have no meal service. Mikiura village is surrounded by the clear blue sea and natural green mountains. You'll enjoy real Japan such as rural life experience, quiet time and beautiful nature.
