Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Jurassic Coast

We have just had the most incredible stay at Nichola’s place for my sister’s hen do. From the moment we arrived, she was warm and welcoming and met us to show us around. She also came to say bye at the end of our stay and asked how we got on which was lovely. The house itself is amazing and somehow exceeded our expectations- the photos look brilliant but in person it is stunning! Would definitely recommend!

The property was perfect, the pictures are lovely and they reflect the quality. The property once there is outstanding and very peaceful. It’s one of those hidden Gem AirBnBs, we loved the stay and will hopefully return.

Great host and place

This place is the most peaceful setting, waking up to a view of the hills, the foliage, the sheep & the cry of the pheasants. It was great! Excellent proximity to trails. Close to town. The space was perfectly appointed, and had all the things we needed to stay comfortably with our 6 month old. I would certainly recommend if you’re needing a recharge in the countryside. And Tanya was quick to respond as needed.

We had a fantastic time at Brookside Farm - Swallow's Return was even nicer than we'd been expecting, with stunning views across the Dorset countryside and everything we needed for a few days of rest. The place was easy to find with the directions provided and we were given a very warm and friendly welcome by Charlotte, Jonni, Stanley and Maurice. They left plenty of local tips and suggestions for us in the apartment, which we made use of. The highlights for us were being given the chance to feed and learn more about their beautiful alpacas, eating out on the terrace in the evening at sunset and enjoying the sound of the brook that runs along the bottom of the farm. If you're looking to disconnect for a few days in a beautiful place surrounded by nature, we'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

Lovely home, spacious, modern, clean, and well equipped. Easy to find and Suzanne provides clear instructions and recommendations. Good parking. We used it as a base for a wedding at Stockbridge Farm Barn which is only a couple of minutes drive or under 20 minutes to walk. There is lots to do in the area (we visited Montacute House 25 mins away by car), and there are some nice walks from the house.

Laura’s place is an absolute gem! It is so tastefully designed and well appointed. The location itself is very special too. Everything has been thought of for a comfortable stay. I loved lighting a fire at night and looking out to the garden in the morning. Laura is super warm and welcoming—knowledgeable about the area too. This stay is one of the best in my books to date! Absolutely worth a visit.

Cozy little cottage just 5 minutes walk from Chesil Beach with a great balcony with a sea view. Stunning walks nearby on the Isle of Portland including Portland Bill Lighthouse (if you go make sure you pop into the Lobster Pot cafe) - and Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove aren’t far in the car. Abbotsbury also isn’t far with the Swannery and subtropical gardens which are both worth a visit. My husband is 6’3” so struggled with the stairs which are steep and the ceiling in the kitchen is low. King Street is very narrow and the parking space takes some practice but April’s instructions were really helpful - the fact that a neighbour has a transit van and manages it gave me confidence! Within a couple of days it was easy. The bathroom (shower room) is downstairs but there’s another room off the kitchen which we used as a dressing room - really handy to save going up and down the stairs too much. Great little kitchen with everything you need. Upstairs lounge has games and a smart TV.

The apartment was 5 stars all the way. Beautiful location, sophisticated decor, hi tech appliances and stunning views. Chris and Tanya were helpful and responsive, it was an exceptionally enjoyable stay

Absolutely loved my stay at Louise's apartment. It's definitely one of the best AirBnB experiences I've ever had. The apartment is gorgeous and perfectly matches the pictures shared online. I felt like I was living in a Jane Austen novel but with 21st century comforts. It was so easy to walk from the apartment to nearby restaurants and activities. Louise was helpful and responsive throughout my stay. Highly recommend, and I definitely hope to return someday for another trip.

Sebastian’s flat is in a perfect location. I chose it as my husband can’t walk long distances and everything was really nearby. No need to use the car if you want a break from driving. Beautifully comfortable, with lots of extras provided. We’ll be back! Thank you x

Christina was a friendly and helpful host. The house and gardens are beautiful with wonderful views of the church and surrounding countryside. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and spacious and we appreciated the breakfast of cereals, fresh croissants, butter, jam and orange juice. A peaceful and relaxing stay. My husband, 10-year-old daughter and myself have just returned from a truly amazing week, the property is beautiful, with facilities that far exceeded expectations. We had such a relaxing time; the beds are super comfy; led in bed looking out to sea with a coffee in the morning was a true highlight. The gardens are beautifully kept and being gated and private we had no worries with our daughter playing out. The walk down to Watcombe Beach, albeit steep on the way back up but 100% worth it; we took our paddleboard down and went swimming on a number of occasions, the water is very calm, on 2 occasions we were in the water and within 20ft off us were 2 seals! The hot tub was perfect, lovely fluffy robes provided to keep off the chill. We used the BBQ each evening and ate out on the patio. Susan is an incredible host, nothing is too much trouble, very informative and exceedingly helpful, she really did enhance our stay and made us feel as if we were staying in a home from home.

Clean and well maintained. Fabulous location, right on the esplanade. Excellent mattresses. West Bay itself; we were worried about the caravan park and that this can generate constant nagging from the kids about sweets, arcades and plastic tat, but there was none of this. It’s a little harbour (good crabbing), a beach and coastal walks with a few ice cream and food options. This week the beach generated very strong waves that were not suitable for younger children, my 11 and 14 yr olds loved it. “Rise” restaurant was superb.

We had a perfect weekend at Phil and Larraine’s. The apartment was clean, spacious, well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay. The outside seating area and garden was lovely. Our hosts were always available if required but also respectful to our privacy. We felt like the place was ours and settled in from minute one. Thank you Phil & Larraine . Just one more thing - those views WOW!

Beautiful accommodation. But because we are 80 we felt a little isolated as we couldn’t manage to walk from the property, it would be better suited for younger fit guests

We had a great stay at this lovely apartment. It’s stylishly decorated, well-equipped, and just a short walk from the centre of town. The cot and high chair provided were perfect for our 1.5-year-old, and everything was very comfortable and easy. Check-in instructions were clear and straightforward. Parking outside the apartment was full when we arrived on Friday evening, which made unloading a little tricky, but there was space on Sunday when we left so it may just have been the timing. Overall, a really nice base for our weekend and we’d definitely recommend it!

My mother absolutely loved the property. Fantastic location

The flat was great and very roomy, all of the rooms had been done out to a high standard. Mark and Gemma were very helpful and responded very quickly. Facilities I were as advertised and to a high standard. The driveway was steep so take it slow but plenty of room to turn around as going backwards was not recommended but Mark. But plenty of space for our estate car.

This was a brilliant location and a lovely, quirky property. It’s in the centre of Bridport which has easy access to lots of local attractions. We had a fabulous day and hope to be back next year.

Perfect location! Amazing seaside views, really enjoyed watching the waves and people watching from the comfort of the sofa/bedroom. Kitchen well stocked and lovely touch of bread, milk, jam and biscuits for breakfast the next day. The sofa bed was really comfy for our two children, and plenty of space for our family of four. Super clear instructions to enter, and the parking permit was a huge plus! Really enjoyed our stay!
