A grassy outdoor area is seen with a view of the neighboring landscape. A path covered in a green tarp leads across the space, bordered by pebbles. In the distance, a small table is positioned on a patch of grass, with a backdrop of scattered clouds in the sky.

Guest house Shinjuku field omoya, built on a hill

The price of only 4000 yen at the time of booking made me think it would be a very poor experience for a stay, but Mr. Hayashi's service and this beautiful place surprised me. I lost my cash and credit card in Tokyo, and my mood dropped to the bottom, and I had to extend the time of meeting Mr. Hayashi by an hour and a half, but Mr. Falconer still waited for me, thank you very much, which made me throw my troubles away.Very happy chatting with Mr. Hayato along the way, he is a very cheerful and kind person. We went to dinner together at night without talking, we talked about each other's countries, each other's culture, each other's dreams, the boundaries of nationality almost disappeared at this moment, it was a very memorable and pleasant experience. Finally, say the room, it is really very nice, spacious, bright, open the door is fresh air and a quiet town, washing my busy work in Tokyo, and the house facilities are also very full, it will be the most memorable hotel I have ever stayed in.

I had a wonderful time here. The host was absolutely fabulous and very, very helpful. Other guests had written about having having a nice day and I was definitely pleased… also able to meet other really friendly and fun people at the Guest house. The only thing that could’ve been better is if I had been able to speak Japanese where the host had been able to speak English… but we were able to use Google translate and the Japanese translation mode and I think we truly understood each other. The coffee shop, the Buddha shrine, the tsunami elementary school museum, and the help at the train station are all great memories I won’t forget. I found this to be a very livable area in my travels in Japan. Thanks again for everything.
The entrance of a building features a curved glass facade alongside wooden elements, creating a welcoming appearance. A potted bamboo plant adds a touch of greenery, while the name 'Ura no Kado' is displayed prominently above the doorway.

Absolute steal! The Japanese countryside view along with the wonderful host makes it the perfect place to stay, with tons of activities to do, such as helping the host with agriculture, climbing the highest mountain in the area, and going to an extremely hot onsen, not to mention the extremely friendly cat and dog on the farm. If time isn't a constraint, I would love to spend more time here.
A modern toilet is presented within a small restroom. A toilet paper roll is positioned on the wall beside it, and a towel hangs on a nearby rack. Natural light enters through a window, featuring decorative frosted glass.

Wow what a stay! My mom has spent a month here, a beautiful, authentic, peaceful Japanese countryside lifestyle, Toshio and his family provided above and beyond service here, the gourmet homemade breakfast, the free car service, if you look for serenity in a real Japanese home, look no further, you will feel the hospitality in a very modest way that I have lots respect for. Toshio San, I wish running this business will bring you enormous satisfaction like what you and your family did for my mom. Rebecca

Kominka Guest House SATOYAMA

MichalRating, 5 stars1 month ago
It was great to stay at this house. The interior is really so beautiful. And the area as well. The hostess is really incredibly hospitable and helpful and helped us a few times really very well. We were not bothered by it, but it was good to know that there is a small fire station opposite the house and the alarm can sound. There is also a music 3x a day, at 8 am, at noon and at 5 pm. That is common in the countryside so we learned. You feel so part of Japanese countryside living. We were very lucky with the cherry blossom and that there was close to the cherry blossom festival with really a great location with river with the most beautiful cherry blossom trees. This is very close to the house and you can walk. The bathhouse is also very close to the nearby hotel The kitchen is good but do not expect to be able to cook extensively because there is 1 gas burner, but we managed fine. We really had a great time. Thank you!
