Summer paradise by Göta Kanal

Gammalrud is a farm, which is located in the northern part of the peninsula, which goes into Lake Viken and is called Vika forests. Here we conduct forestry and lamb production since 1976. Surrounded by the beautiful forest, lake Viken (the highest point of Göta Kanal) and the hospitality of Thord and Ulla, this is your idyllic home away from home. We have renovated the old farm dairy, "Mejeriet", and made it into a nice home that we rent out to guests. The ground floor consists of a hallway, a kitchen suited for 8 persons and a large living room with a cozy fireplace. The living room floor is made of hand-made bricks from the old brickworks in the nearby village Horn. The upper floor consists of one large room with wooden floor and alcoves for 6 persons. At the old canal landing, we have built a large boathouse. Here is a place, not just for boats, but also for gatherings and parties. If you´d like to go fishing you are more than welcome to rent our small boat to try your luck catching pike, perch or any of the other fish in lake Viken. There is also a sauna in the Boathouse. Gammalrud is a farm dating back to the Middle Ages. A full list of previous owners dates back to 1498. In the 1600s, Gammalrud became a manor when the first corp de logi was built by Thord Jönsson Reuterberg. In the 1800s, Gammalrud became part of the Swedish industrial history by one of the owners, Theodor Winborg, also known as “Ättikskungen” , the founder of Winborg´s vinegar and later by his brother in law, Helge Palmqrantz, an inventor and industrialist with machine factories in Stockholm. Both agricultural tools and weapons were made there. A machine gun, designed by Helge Palmqrantz to be part of the defense on Karlsborgs fortress, can be seen at the fortress museum.

Enjoy the tranquility or take the opportunity to discover the magical Tivedsskogen on a lovely autumn day, from the cabin you have several sights within a reasonable distance. To name a few there are for example. Karlsborgs Fortress, Bölets meadows and Tiveds country store. If you are a big fisherman, you might get the old pike on the hook in one of all the beautiful lakes in the surroundings. To Björstorps swimming area - Skarven is 2.6 km, where is a shallow beach with jetty and toilet.

Take a morning swim in the lake or sit and cozy in front of the wood stove. At the lake, there is also a wood-fired sauna that you can use freely for a fee. It's a special experience you don't want to miss. Tiveden National Park with its easily accessible and wild nature is a popular excursion we really recommend. We are happy to advise you about tours.

Newly built apartment building with the absolute best location on the longest lake bath in the Nordic countries and one of Sweden's finest beaches. With promenades, cafes and restaurants, it's a place that has something for everyone. The shallow, clean water is sheltered in a bay perfect for surfing and kayaking. Close to padel courts, tennis courts, miniature golf. No pets are allowed. Sheets/towels are included, but can be rented for 100 SEK/person. Events/parties are not allowed. Water pipes/smoking not allowed!

Take a break and unwind at this peaceful oasis. Nice lake view from the cottage and about 300 meters to swimming and barbecue area by the lake. Cosy cabin only 10 minutes by car from the famous Tivedens National Park. Amazing view to lake Unden, the largest fresh water lake in Tived. Fantastic to swim in when it's warm in the summer. Amazing sunsets and a very peaceful atmosphere. Romantic. The area straight down from the cabin by the water doesn't belong to the property but welcomes respectful visitors.

Slappna av i detta bekväma, unika och lugna boende mitt i skogen där ingen biltrafik råder. Här får ni närhet till bad och fiske i ett flertal sjöar. Vitsands och Djäknesundets vackra badplatser ligger 25 respektive 9 km från stugan. Flertalet naturreservat finns runt knuten. Tivedens nationalpark ligger endast 10 km bort. Tiveden bjuder också på vandrings-, rid- och kanotleder. Från Karlsborg kan man ta en tur med kanalbåten på Göta kanal eller besöka Karlsborgs fästning.

Warm welcome to our small cosy house in Tiveden located in the village of Sannerud. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and a kitchen with bathroom. Here you have a perfect location in the village where you can eat and drink well at Lanthandel and restaurant Luripompa which is a 10 minute walk from our house. You also have Tiveden National Park a 15-minute drive close by. Adjacent to the house, there are several of Tiveden's bike and hiking trails. Bath is 15 minutes walk close by.

Surrounded by the discreet moose, your only neighbors, you will sleep in a small, perfectly equipped cottage overlooking a huge lake where the sky and clouds are reflected. We felt at home and Tanja greeted us warmly. We enjoyed the tranquility in great nature. The kitchen was super equipped with everything you need and views of the lake. The cottage was very cozyly furnished and has really Swedish charm!There were shops in Tibro, about a quarter of an hour away. We did a lot of hiking and highly recommend Tiveden National Park. We will definitely be back! Thanks Tanja !!!
