Two thousand years of history held within the walls of Madama Palace: built by Romans as city gate, later fortress and then castle subject through the centuries to many changes due to whims and passing fancy of the noble residents. Among them, Maria Giovanna Battista of Savoy, one of the ”Royal Madams” who contributed to enrich the building in a Baroque style and Maria Cristina di Borbone, whose important works enriched the interior of the building.
