Vacation rentals in Hnífsdalur

We were hoping to stay in Ísafjörður while visiting friends, but the Aldrei music festival was going on and the town was packed. We were happy to find this place in Flateyri, just 20 minutes away. The setting was gorgeous with snowy mountains all around! The place was quiet, with plenty of space for two people. The clothes dryer gave us trouble when trying to end the cycle early— the cooling fan ran for over 45 minutes before we could open the dryer door. Otherwise, it was a nice stay.

Really lovely cabin on one of the most beautiful locations! Would highly recommend!

We had a wonderfully peaceful stay at Mountain Song. The place was very cozy and secluded and perfect for getting away from it all. We were there late in the season, but even with some of the roads and trails inaccessible, we found plenty to keep us busy with nearby hikes, restaurants, breweries, and painting and reading while watching the snow fall out the windows.

What a peaceful and beautiful location. The bed is incredibly comfortable, great water, pressure and shower, all the utensils in the kitchen you need to cook, and unbelievable views. You can hear the ocean from the cabin. Highly recommend and wonderful hosts! Thank you so much!

Madeleine’s house is sweetest, so cozy and comfortable with beautiful decor. The perfect place to stay in Flateyri 🩷 coming back as soon as possible!

Eydis est l’hôte la plus bienveillante et accueillante que j’ai pu avoir. Notre arrivée a été très perturbée à cause de la météo (vent violent et chutes de neige) , le papa d’Eydis nous attendait à la maison pour s’assurer de notre arrivée. La maison était parfaite, et très propre. Eydis a toujours été disponible pour répondre à nos questions et nous a même proposé de rester une nuit supplémentaire sans frais à cause de la météo qui a empêché notre départ. J’espère avoir l’occasion de recroiser un jour votre chemin !

We had an amazing time in the westfjords! The location is perfect too see all the highlights of the westfjords. The view from the terrace is breathtaking!

This was our second time staying here - out of more than 60 places we have stayed in Iceland this is the only one we have returned to, it is so special. The weather for our 2 night stay was not going to be good so Guðrún very generously offered us another property with more amenities but we decided to stay at Brekka. Even during the wind & rain the place was still warm thanks to the wood burner and we cooked a full meal on the stove and enjoyed relaxing completely by candlelight. We made one journey out to the local pool (also recommended, everyone is very welcoming and chatty, even by Icelandic hot tub standards!) but otherwise enjoyed a chance to de-stress and have a break from our road trip. Already looking forward to another stay in 2 years - roll on 2026!

We had a wonderful time staying here. Not sure what the surrounding area is like - we arrived late and left early - but the unit is exactly as described, and easy to get into. Breakfast was great as well, and there is lots of parking. Good view of the northern lights!
