Kominka Guest House Kurayoshi, a renovated 105-year-old traditional house

JoannaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Thank u Yamane-san for this wonderful stay! I was initially concerned since the house was a bit far from the station and I was traveling solo. However, Yamane-san’s warm welcome immediately put all my worries at ease! Even though I arrived in Kurayoshi at 10 PM that day, he was kind enough to accommodate my arrival time and drove to the station to pick me up and take me to the house The house is quite a traditional Japanese house, except the bathrooms are more modern style (that's an advantage lol). However, for an Asian, the Japanese dolls in the bedroom were somehow eerie (probably bc of Japanese horror films). But if u r fond of Japanese traditional culture and don't mind this, the bedroom is a perfect fit for u. When the weather is on the colder side (I’d say when the high is below 15°C), the bedroom will need more heaters. Advice-might be helpful to include some photos of the bedroom so guests know what to expect (the rooms are beautiful) Looking forward to the next stay :D

Room 1 for families of Japanese rooms

Hosts are a couple who run a ramen restaurant a little further down the street. Really very friendly and responsive. The ramen was good. The guesthouse consists of 3 bedrooms. Shared toilet, kitchen, and bathroom. Hosts don't live in the guesthouse. We had a nice stay with 4 with two children. The guesthouse is really next to the castle.

The place was tidy and nice, especially the host's consideration. I had a happy time on a calm trip to Japan, and it's fun to look around the village by renting a bike. Thank you.
A serene garden space is illuminated by a lantern, surrounded by lush vegetation. Vibrant pink and purple flowers are complemented by delicate maple leaves. Smooth stones and gravel enhance the natural aesthetic, providing a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation.

6 minutes walk from Matsue Station!

MartlyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This was honestly the best AirBnB we have had in Japan so far - extremely spacious, very clean, loads of extras, sugar, coffee washing soap etc and welcome snacks and fresh flowers. Instruction manuel for all appliances in English. Very close to station and attractions like Matsue castle. Karly curry is a must close to the station. Easy access to train to Adachi art museum with its magnificent garden. Great little breakfast spot 30 meters in same street to your left. Great bars and restaurants around. We loved Matsue. Our host was very attentive and welcomed us in person prepared with translation device! Thanks for taking care of us in such a great way. Ps. Big enough for 4 adults sharing/ door separating 2 rooms 4 single beds. Please note rooms upstairs and toilet bathroom and rest of the house downstairs, we did not mind at all but might be challenging for some. Bathroom and dining area is huge.

Jock is a great host. He is a kind host who looked into it here and there to rent a rental car, and explained the way to come easily. The house is also close to the station, so you can walk to it. I highly recommend this place to anyone coming on a trip to Yonago.
The bath area features warm wooden walls and a concrete floor, with a traditional Goemon bath set into the corner. A wooden seat is positioned nearby, and a showerhead is mounted above. Large windows allow natural light to brighten the space.

You can stay in a very large mansion with a great sense of history.I think the experience alone is worth it. The host is very polite and responsive, and is reliable. I stayed with an 11-month-old baby, and it was very comfortable. It was especially helpful that they provided a baby futon, had lots of toys, and had a large tatami mat room. The neighborhood is a rural village dotted with farmhouses characteristic of Wakayama's forestry industry. It was also valuable to be able to enjoy the scenery.
