Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Highland County

We loved staying at Bluebird Mountain Home. The house is in pristine condition with a billiard room and comfy couches and chairs to kick back. The screened-in porch provided ample room for our board games and visits at night. The kitchen is huge with plenty of counter space and a pantry that is fully stocked with anything anyone could ever need. We enjoyed this house immensely and plan to return.

We had a great time hiking nearby trails and seeing waterfalls.

Had a great stay. The playroom was very helpful and Kristin was responsive. We would recommend to families with kids and would stay again.

THeir place was so beautiful and homey. Loved the back deck and the firepit. They were so helpful with all directions written out with all accommodations. Will definitely return.

Lovely spot in the mountains! Perfect if you're planning to hike! The space was cozy and clean; we brought our two dogs and had fun all sitting by the fire inside! It was thoughtful of her to have laundry detergent pods for us to use. The master bed was comfortable, which I don't find myself saying too often in Airbnbs! Overall, it was peaceful and quiet - a great getaway from the city.

Simply put, this could not have been a better stay. This place had everything we needed and was a short and super easy trip to the slope. The golf course being closed also made it easy for us to get our pups energy out. I highly recommend this spot to anyone coming to stay at the resort. Carol did amazing job communicating and even was willing to work with us on check out time so we could hit the slopes on chekout day. Will definitely be renting again next season if available.

Very nice place at the mid point between the college and the the town--both are walkable and within 10 minutes. Next door to the house is a very small house or shed in disrepair, but the street is dotted with smaller homes that mostly seem occupied or are rentals. The view from the back of the house is a commercial street--a tire shop and a bike shop. The house has been well renovated and is a charming older home with almost all of the amenities you will need. Please note the upper bedroom is up a set of very steep stairs that are probably fine for teenagers but not small children or older adults that may need a bathroom break in the middle of the night. The main bedroom downstairs has an enormous and comfortable king size bed. We would stay again because we love small urban towns near the highway.

Everything about our entire experience here was amazing! From the time we found it online to the time we left, Dimitri was so kind, friendly and helpful. His communication was outstanding and answered every question we had. The house is just the cutest historic home and we felt right at home. Loved the acreage because we were able to play outside with our children every day and didn’t even have the need to go anywhere! We did take a day to visit the train station right down the road that Dimitri told us about. He let us know the locations of the nearest Walmart from the house so we drove there on our way to the house and got everything we needed for our stay. We didn’t need to go out again but there was also a Dollar General just a few minutes down the road if we needed any other supplies. I loved swinging on the front porch and exploring the property. The “neighborhood” was beautiful and we loved taking walks. It was just amazing and we would love to go back! I didn’t want to leave!!

Loved the place and Shilpa was an amazing communicator! Super flexible and responsive and the house had everything we needed and more. The hot tub, sauna, and igloo were absolutely amazing after a long day of climbing and our 15-friend women’s trip was an absolute BLAST! Can’t wait for next year!!

My fiance, our dog, and I had a wonderful stay at Susie's! The condo was well stocked with anything you may need during your stay. The dog bowls and towels were a thoughtful addition right as you walked in. The bed was comfortable and we loved having the TV up there to unwind after a day of hiking around nearby trails. We ended up having to reschedule the days that we were coming, and Susie made that process very easy. We will definitely be staying here again next time we come to the area!

The Co-host Amy was very proactive, responded quickly and helped to make sure we had a great stay! The house is super nice, the bedrooms were huge, besides the bunk room- it is a tiny space. We had 13 adults but still made it work! Due to the bears and laws, there is no outside trash cans but the dumpster was just up the road. The house had everything we needed from cleaning supplies, to coffee bar. I loved that there was a gas station, market and a few food options inside of the neighborhood/resort. I would recommend this house for a large group getaway! We didn’t have the weather we expected but the views were amazing. Thanks Chris and Amy!

I’d argue that this is one of the best places to stay in Wintergreen. The cabin itself is perfect. We are a young family and it was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. The location is also perfect. It is very close to all the attractions on the resort. Clay was a great host as well. The perfect amount of communication; engaged without being intrusive. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be sure their trip is easy and successful!

Cute 1 bedroom condo on top of the mountain at a ski resort. Would deff book again if looking for a place in area.

Pip's place is close enough to all the features that Wintergreen Resort offers to make them easily accessible, but far enough away to give you space and quiet. It backs up to the golf course so the back has a lovely setting. We were especially grateful that the place is dog friendly. We would totally recommend this spot and would stay again in the future.

The view is stunning!! Nothing beats waking up on top of a mountain! Mary Beth and Gregg have very helpful instructions to find their home. The house was clean, comfortable, cozy, and well stocked! They had great recommendations for restaurants and shopping in the area. They were very communicative and responded quickly with any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay and what Wintergreen had to offer! Wintergreen is a very beautiful place!

Lindsay’s place was perfect for our family’s ski weekend. The condo was spacious and had everything we needed. The views were amazing! Lindsay was a great communicator and very responsive host. Highly recommend!

The cabin was rustic and cozy , exactly what we expected. The property is beautiful and we spent a lot of time walking the grounds down to the river . We had a peaceful experience and would re book. Tashina and her husband checked in while on site to see if we had any needs . We enjoyed everything about this experience.

This is ideal for a pet friendly place at Snowshoe. The condo is less than 100’ to the Camp 4 slope. There is a nice field for walking pets just behind the condo. There is a shuttle stop just up the road and it’s an easy walk up a lit sidewalk to Tuque’s or Appalachia Kitchen if you want. Also, the Western Territory lift is close by. Overall, this place was great. We will be back.

This was a nice place to stay, it has a very nice view and easy access to the main road. It also had good size parking for all vehicles which we usually struggle with. We also got a quick response to a concern we had. And Even tho our trip was cut short we enjoyed our stay, we would definitely recommend staying here.

Alex and Elise are such awesome hosts! This was our 3rd time staying in their beautiful home and we have never had any issues. The house is beautiful and always in such pristine condition. The views are amazing. We always feel so welcome, even before we make the trip! Highly recommend!

Cozy cozy cozy! First time at The Farm, and we all loved it! Our family of 8 was there for the JMU spring game. It’s about an 18-minute drive from the campus, on scenic country roads. The house has SO much personality and is clearly a labor of love for the hosts! Comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms, lots of blankets, quality towels - the hosts really thought of everything. Even small “white noise” makers in each bedroom! We played Pac-Man in the game room and had a great time at night the hanging around the fire pit. And there were COWS! Lovely setting - I can only imagine what it’s like in the summertime. We can’t wait to come back and stay at the farmhouse again. Ooh! Also! We were greeted with the most-yummy locally-made cinnamon buns, and the gracious hosts allowed us an hour extra time on the checkout! Much appreciated! And, finally, I have to mention the giant GUMBALL MACHINE! Haha! Anyway - we loved it all. Thanks Wesley & Emily! :):)

Stayed here one night to visit the hot springs. Had the basics that we needed. Comfy bed, and even a few snacks provided. Very muddy so we couldn’t enjoy the area around the pond, but it’s spring so it’s the season! Quiet and tranquil area. Heater in the bathroom is a nice touch bc floor tiles are very cold.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house on Wintergreen. The house was a great size and the location was ideal. Just a short walk through the golf course to the driving range and Devil's Grill. There is also a trail just across the street where you can find the most amazing sunset view along with a number of additional hiking options. Our dogs loved it. And Bob was a really great host, very responsive.
