“Tsubara”-calm traditional Kyoto Machiya house

JohannaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Eri was so beautiful! So helpful and the way she showed us around the home and her attention to detail was phenomenal! I even asked to stay an extra day because kyoto became my favorite place in all of Japan! Coming to Japan i was a bit disappointed with Tokyo, but i am so grateful for Koji and Eris gorgeous home and their recommendations. We rented kimonos and spent the whole day visiting local shrines and temples, all within walking distance. It was such an amazing experience. I will be coming back next year and am going to spend my entire vacation in Kyoto. Hopefully I will be able to stay at Tsubara house again!

Great deal for those with large groups visiting Osaka! The Castle is very spacious and clean in both the individual rooms and the shared spaces, we had 11 people and there was still plenty of space. The location is in a quiet neighborhood but still within a 10/15 min walk to two metro stations that can take you anywhere you’re going in the city. There are also many shops and restaurants within walking distance, including a 7/11 right around the corner! Overall great experience at this location.

A Family House in front of Kyoto Station,4min walk

AmparoRating, 5 stars1 month ago
It was really close to a train station, about five mins away or less, and multiple convenience stores which helped with snacks after long days. Only thing to note is all three rooms are attached, so to get to the third room you must go through the first and second room. It wasn’t an issue for us but might be for those who want privacy. There was a bright exit sign in the first room which was bothersome the first night but we just covered it with a black shirt the next nights and it was fine. Overall would stay again.

Toshie was incredibly friendly and provided us with such amazing service. She came and picked us up from the train station and later dropped us back at the station after our stay. She showed us the local restaurants/cafe close by to the accommodation as well as the bus stop to get on/off should we need to use the bus to get to/back from station. The home is beautiful and very comfortable in a nice quiet residential neighbourhood. All the amenities were excellent and there were clear instructions provided. Her daughter is an incredible ceramics artist with her works featured throughout the home, adding a whimsical flair to the environment. We felt relaxed and refreshed after our stay. Highly recommended.

The single-family home has a large and cozy space. We arrived late on the day we checked in (more than 10 pm) but didn't expect the host to be waiting for us, and for us to carry our luggage and piercing about the facilities in the house. The house is fully equipped with children's toys and books, a lot of shopping and eating information near the house, the bedroom is comfortable and equipped with charging plugs, the stairs are also equipped with a small night light for the night, and there is a non-slip carpet, and there are towels and hands in the bathroom. There is also a car space for self-driving people.Unexpectedly, there was a welcome letter, which was really sweet.Very good value for money, perfect for the size of a family, will have the opportunity to stay again and also to friends and family who intend to visit Osaka. The host couple also delivered in person when they left!

Such a lovely stay in Kyoto! After the hustle and bustle of Tokyo (and tiny hotel rooms), it was so nice to have a beautiful, quiet, calm space to spread out. A quick walk from the train station and the most perfect backyard is waiting for you with the nicest soaking tub. We ended up doing less than planned so we could enjoy the space more.

There is a distance to Namba Station, but you can go to Sakuragawa Station within 10 minutes on foot, and if you take the train, you can go within 15 minutes. The transportation is inconvenient, but it is a cheap accommodation, so I think it is good value for the money. Basically, there are 2 bedrooms, and the living room and kitchen are clean, so I had a satisfying stay. The bedroom has stairs, but the slope is steep, so it can be a little difficult to take care of children or the elderly. Still, it's basically well-equipped, so I had a good stay.

Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again, Saito, for being such a great host. For our dream trip to Japan, we stayed at Yumi's place to experience a traditional Japanese home, but with modern amenities. Just a reminder that the doorframes are low, and my 6 foot 3 in (192 cm) tall father hit his head a few times. The stairs to get to the second floor were also quite steep, so it could be difficult for larger luggage. We really enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend staying here.
