Design Cottage Close to Icelandic Countryside & Reykjavik

Step into one of the oldest homes in town, dating from 1884. Curated by the owners of the design studio Reykjavík Trading Co., The Garden Cottage has been completely remodeled to provide a unique feeling, with a lot of the furniture handmade or meticulously crafted and selected from their travels to California, Scandinavia & Mexico. The land behind The Garden Cottage is home to their designed greenhouse, communal garden, chickens and their most recent addition, The Shed which is their workshop / shop where you can visit for a coffee, buy pieces or see their process of making objects. Curated by the owners & designers of Reykjavík Trading Co. (an Icelandic / California homeware company) the Garden Cottage is their first project of creating a home space for guests to experience a unique & cozy feeling while visiting Iceland. The bottom floor of the 1884 built home has been completely remodeled for guests. Everything in the home has been either made by hand by R.T.Co. or selected from their collection of preferred products & appliances. Anthony Bacigalupo & Ýr Káradóttir, the owners of The Garden Cottage, live & work in the separate upper part of the historic home & their R.T.Co. workshop is located in the back of the garden for guests to visit, learn about the pieces being crafted, or just to have a cup of coffee. We wanted to create a place for guests to experience "slow living" & create a special stay. Having designed spaces for hotels, cafes, bars we decided to put our inspiration & collection into this project & build something completely one-of-a-kind in Iceland. The home was built in 1884 & we have been remodeling & bringing back the style it once was but also bringing back the garden & farm style that was once so prominent back in the day. We believe in hospitality to the fullest which sadly doesn't exist anymore in places. Since we live on the property we can answer any questions you have or have you in for a coffee if you need help deciding your journey in Iceland. The cottage is in the oldest part of Hafnarfjörður, a small harbor town. There are great farm-to-table restaurants, bakeries, live music, artist studios and swimming pools nearby. It’s conveniently located across the road from the town’s bus terminal. The house has three stories but is broken into two flats- we live on the upper floors with our children with separate driveway and front door- but we are here for anything you need or to have a coffee in the greenhouse! Our little town can be easily walked around & explored. Shuttle stops for airport & Blue Lagoon are 3 minutes walk next to the ocean & the bus terminal into Reykjavík is close as well.

One bedroom cosy apartment in the heart of the city. Close to restaurants,bars,cafés,shops ,the landmark church and the main bus station. The apartment is 65 m2 apartment and it consists of an open plan kitchen ,living room and bedroom.The bedroom has one king size bed that can be pulled apart, living room has a sofabed that is 140 cm x 200 .The bathroom is spacious with a bathtub and a shower. The apartment has a private entrance and is on second floor in a friendly 2 apartment house.

Gunnu Hús by Meðalfellsvatn ( Our lakeside cottage nestles at the foot of Medalfell mountain and the garden leads right down to the lake. The views are spectacular, of the lake and its surrounding mountain scape; it is a place of pure tranquility. It has 3 bedrooms and an open plan kitchen and sitting room. It has a large double bedroom, and small double bedroom and a room with a bunk bed. It is well known and often listed as one of the most scenic and lovely summer cottages in Iceland.

This cozy space is located within the central district of 101 Reykjavik. Close to the tourist center & shops. Restaurants & nightlife are within walking distance but not so near as to disturb your sleep. The harbor is 2 minutes away. The studio flat is beautifully designed to offer every comfort and amenity you'd expect from a hotel.

It is a nice little flat with private entrance downstairs in a beautiful house downtown Reykjavik. We live upstairs. The flat is only in a few minutes walking distance from the city centre and the old harbour where you will find nice restaurants, bars, museums, shops, art galleries and our landmark Concert Hall, Harpa.

We loved our stay here! It was clean and cozy even though it’s a shared suite. We felt safe walking in the neighbourhood which was 10 minutes to a grocery store and easy to walk to the Center of town. Parking out front was a great bonus! If we come back to Iceland we will be sure to return to this wonderful Airbnb!
