BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED GASCON FRENCH FARMHOUSE

Our beautifully restored French farmhouse, set in the heart of Gascony. Situated 15 minutes by car to the town Condom and even closer to the picturesque villages of La Romieu and Gazapouy. We've had the house for 15 years and have lovingly restored it from it's original working farmhouse keeping a majority of the traditional farming features. The house is nestled in a secluded valley with sunflower fields on several sides of the property. Complete with swimming pool, trampoline and games room. The ground floor and the main living space is large open plan room with kitchen and dining room table to seat up to 10 people. There is a pantry off this a room and also a mezzanine floor with TV area. Also a downstairs w/c. The first of two living rooms is next to to the kitchen with two very comfortable sofas, music player, TV in corner, and huge open fireplace. Up the main staircase you will find the master bedroom to the right with an windows and shutters looking on to the main lawn. The expansive bathroom and shower en suite. Meaning you can sit in the bath and have a view over the Gascon hills. To the left hand side off the landing is the second bedroom with a large double bed and ensuite shower room. All rooms have great ceiling height making the rooms very light and airy. To the rear of the property are two bedrooms again both with en suite bath and showers. They each contain two single beds, (can be pushed together for couples.) Here from the top bedroom is a Juliet balcony looking down the valley and across to Gazapouy. Great in the morning when the sun rises! Downstaris is the fourth bedroom that has french doors opening onto the old wine press, cart and wine vats. All original features. Happily named "The Bull Pen" due to its former use, is the final bedroom. This is on the ground level (disabled access possible.) Lovingly restored bedroom with sunlight streaming through the windows in the morning (there are blinds if you're hoping for a lie in.) Again another larger shower en suite / wet room. Closest to the house and next to the kidney shaped swimming pool is the outdoor seating area. Under here is an open fireplace and relaxed comfortable seating area thats great to use in the evenings especially in summer when the nights go on. Adjacent to this is the outdoor dining area where you can eat all the delicious Gascon foods you want. This has a in built BBQ so ideal for those long lunches and dinners especially whiling away the Summer evenings. Across the lawn to the games room complete with pool table, badminton set and croquet set. There's a covered log shed for any indoor or outdoor fire you may like. The garden stretches right down the back meaning and is only bordered by the farmers fields so there's plenty to explore. From the bamboo bush to the many roses our gardner Pierott plants. Guests have free range of the whole property including the several out houses, extensive lawns and gardens. The rental is for the whole house so your on your own however price includes cleaner before and after stay. There is also a gardener (Pierott) who may visit once during your stay. Local restaurant / bar (2 min drive or 15 min walk) will prepare dinner upon demand and makes for an unforgettable evening out.  The village of La Romieu is 5 mins away with 2 restaurants and bakery and newsagent and grocery store.  All amenities in Condom with restaurants, café bars, supermarkets, traditional markets and shops. The spring and summer are full of fairs and fetes. Jazz at Marciac in August, the bull fighting at Vic Fezensac in May and the Country and Western Festival in July at Mirande.  Beautiful bastide villages, Montreal, Larresingle and Fources are well worth exploring.  The cathedral at Auch with its world famous stained glass windows and its carved choir stalls, together with Abbeye de Flaran and the Roman villa of Seviac are not to be missed.  Look out for the night markets at Vic Fezensac, with their stalls and cafés.  The Gascons are warm-hearted people and the owners enjoy good neighbours who are always ready to help their guests. The regional food and wine is excellent with foie gras and confit de canard being the specialities.  This is a beautiful area; surrounded by hills, amid cornfields and vines, at an average height of 82 meters, the region enjoys a micro-climate with lush, luxuriant plants in summer, which even in winter keep most of their foliage thanks to a mild average temperature (about 13°) which is hardly different from that of Biarritz and Marseille in the deep south.  Lectoure (10 km) also has a good selection of shops and restaurants. Golf at Fleurance, 20 min drive. Further restaurants and interesting villages to discover in the immediate locale You can really only get here by car. Coming from Toulouse/Bordeaux takes about 1.5 hours driving. We welcome you to the family farm, 5 minutes from a beautiful historic village. We offer the possibility of accommodating 1-2 people on weekdays, weekends. On request, summer kitchen with dishes, fridge, stove, sink with dining area under shelter at €15 per day. Breakfast at €10 per person with homemade treats!
