Facing east, it provides dramatic sun rises over the nearby mountains. This hand-crafted whimsical cabin provides a home base for exploring this endlessly interesting region. Right out the door is a trail down to the valley with marshes and ponds to explore. 2 miles away is the spring fed Lake St. George, with incredibly clean and clear water.

It's only 20 miunutes to the costal town of Belfast, and 45 minutes to the city of Bangor. The cabin has a full bathroom with on demand hot water, kitchen including all utentsils and a good-size covered porch and deck. The cabin is powered by solar, and propane for on-demand hot water and built in stovetop and uses an efficient composting toilet.

Halcyon Ridge is owned by Lynn and Chuck Hadyniak, who live near the Halcyon Ridge property. Lynn and Chuck moved out of New Jersey years ago to get away from the hustle and bustle and raise a family in peace. They love Freedom for its quietness and natural beauty, and would love to host people at Halcyon Ridge who also want to escape the noise. Stargazers will be delighted: low humidity, expansive view of the southeastern sky, and next to no light pollution make for wonderful viewing.

I call my place "The Barn" because as I was finishing it it took the shape and feel of a barn. It's not a barn. It's a quiet post and beam open concept building (a Jamaica Cottages kit) set among the fields of Appleton, Maine. You'll sleep in the loft or on a futon on the main floor. The bathroom is huge, 10X10, with a heated floor. It's an open concept kitchen and living space. From Appleton you are 20 miles away from the tourist destinations of Camden, Rockland, and Belfast.

We have an adorable rustic & comfy tiny house; warm & cozy, with a big queen bed & AC. LAST MINUTE DISCOUNT August 17-21 There is a fridge, tea kettle, toaster oven & stovetop. Try our new outdoor shower building. There's a composting toilet indoors which works well & smells not at all. NO INDOOR PLUMBING but we supply drinking/cooking/washing water & there is a sink that drains. If you have more people & your own camping equipment, look for our other listing.
