Some of the best mountain biking is right out the front door and swimming in the nearby river is not to be missed. In the wintertime, access to the Narrow Gauge ski trail is a short walk away.

Sugarloaf Mountain, Slim Melvin House

Classic ski camp originally built in 1960 by Sugarloaf founding father, Walter”Slim” Melvin, and updated in 1998. All pine interior. Carpeted second floor bed rooms. Just 3 miles south of the Sugarloaf Mountain access rd. The camp is a very quiet retreat for family and friends. Dog friendly. Snow shoe out the back door and connect with the trails of the Outdoor center. Tune your skis on the basement work bench. Valley shuttle is available on call.

Flagstaff Oasis

Flagstaff Oasis is your winter retreat just 10 minutes from Sugarloaf! Ski all day, then warm up in the large heated mudroom built for skis and gear. Enjoy direct snowmobile trail access with plenty of parking for sleds and trailers. After the adventure, gather at the firepit or relax in the cozy cabin with all-new appliances and a fully stocked kitchen. Peaceful, private, and set on Flagstaff Lake—perfect for skiing, sledding, and winter fun!

Quiet get away for the family on the river. Hear the sound of the flowing water right outside the windows. 4 Bedroom, 1 Bath, mudroom, radiant floor heat and propane gas stove, full kitchen, with deck and grill. Only a mile from Sugarloaf mountain and the Outdoor center and 24 miles from Flagstaff Lake. Activities include: cross country skiing, skate skiing, downhill skiing, skating and mountain biking, hiking, fishing and golfing.

Stream-side mountain retreat

This attractively renovated camp in the High Peaks region of western Maine is the perfect place to get away and unplug. Surrounded by conservation land, the camp is airy and bright, with views opening onto woods and stream, and is well screened. Solar panels provide water and electricity. There's limited satellite internet service for emailing and texting, and sometimes phone through wifi, depending on your service provider.

Unique rustic retreat perfect for getting away from everyday life. No cellular network ***High-speed WiFi*** No running water (we provide water as needed for dishes and hand washing) with electricity, wood stove (wood provided inside in cold season October to April) and compost toilet outdoor fireplace: we provide cedar bark for outdoor fires. it is forbidden to use the interior wood to make outdoor fires.

Our cell service is terrific, but there's no tv or wifi...come to the woods & unplug!
