What you'll do

Your group will meet in my spacious Mexican kitchen in the heart of Colonia Juárez where we will learn the craft of bread-making during a 2-hour class. (My kitchen seats up to 22 comfortably.) We’ll start with the grain kernels, grind our own grains, and everyone will get a chance to knead and shape the dough. Because it takes more than three hours for the bread to rise and cook, I’ll have some dough that I’ve made in advance, and we’ll work with that in addition to the dough you’ve kneaded yourselves. While our bread bakes, there will be a question and answer session on Mormon beliefs and lifestyle. We will then enjoy our bread together with the toppings and spreads of your choice and a glass of cold milk, water or Mexican limonada.

I am a Mormon (member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) living in a community known for attracting tourists who would like to learn about the Mormon culture. Mormons are known for their cooking and baking skills and my bread-making class would be a perfect fit for those interested in learning about our culture. I have owned a bakery for nine years and have taught baking classes to groups and schools for many years.
