About your host

My name is Diogo, I've lived in the neighborhood of Gloria since 2012 and I’ve been working with culture and entertainment for 9 years. I’ve been part of the team of important cultural venues in Rio de Janeiro, such as Imperator and Teatro Riachuelo Rio and I’ve been studying arts, music and Brazilian popular culture since then. I love showing visitors from all over the world around Rio, a city…

What we’ll do

Food is an important part of human culture. It tells a lot about our history and our way of life. That’s why a great way to experience the culture of a people is going to a local Farmers’ Market. On this tour around Gloria Street Market, you’ll be able to learn some Brazilian History and experience our lifestyle from a foodie point of view! We’ll have a walk through the stalls and taste typical…

What else you should know

Since we’ll be at a street market, bathrooms are hard to find. We're also going to be eating with our hands and not every place has seats. I’ll provide extra napkins and hand sanitizers. :)

What I’ll provide

Snacks and Other
Typical snacks (Pastel, Tapioca). Typical sweets. Fruit tasting (fruits in season).
Juice
Sugar cane juice and natural fruit juice.

What to bring

Wear light clothing and comfortable footwear
Sunscreen
Water
Cash Money
Consider having a light breakfast before the tour, since we’re going to try many different foods along the way.
If you’re on a special diet, like Vegan or Gluten Free, don’t worry, there are tasty options for you!

Where you'll be

We’ll take a walk through the Gloria Street Market, one of the largest farmers' markets in Rio. Our last stop is at Praça Paris (Paris Gardens) for a delicious picnic. However, depending on the weather, we’ll have our picnic at the Russel Square, a historical place full of art-deco buildings.
