What you'll do

Between the bay of Episkopi and Apokrousi lies the most significant place in the history of the island. Vryokastro or Rigokastro was the ancient capital of the island, while it was named Kythnos according to historical sources. Nowadays, guests will get fascinated by the territory and mountain of Vryokastro, its diverse flora (great variety of herbs) and uninterrupted view to Aegean sea and picturesque Kolona beach. Starting from the archaeological site of Vryokastro and more specifically from the area of the ancient aqueduct, we move uphill passing through a natural herb garden of sage and thyme. At the top of the hill lies the ancient acropolis revealing the marks of the ancient buildings of Kythnos and living in harmony with the stone houses of the last century. Afterwards, we head south at the ancient port of Kythnos, hooking the cape which ends at Apokrousi beach. Apokrousi is the largest and among the most beautiful beaches of Kythnos. Due to its unique location, the beach is shielded from the wind while offers a fertile soil for seaweeds. After proper communication, you may swim at Apokrousi beach. On the way home, we follow a shorter route within a beautiful path.
