What you'll do

S F + L D is like going out with a local friend who has just came back from MasterChef (!)

Starting right on with some amazing views at the new bohemian neighbourhood of Guapulo, continuing we´d try Quito´s drink "Canelazo"

Real "hole-in-the-wall" places at “La Floresta" until our last but not least food-stop at Parque Navarro: Great display of local eateries.
Lets que-up for the some “Tripa-Mishki” & "Empanadas de Viento" that ones attracted Anthony Bourdain´s eye.

Finally wash it all down with unique Corn tap Cider at local Cantina for the perfect finale.

Note:
-The idea is to take you in a real local Food path, you would try different food that may get more or less your attention.
- Vegetarian options are always posible.
- I would get the first round of drinks so you should get the second

José Alberto’s food experience tour in Quito was wonderful. We sampled four lovely dishes while st the same time discovering new neighborhoods in the city. Our guide was pleasant, informative and helpful.

We loved our experience with Jose. He was very knowledgeable about food and also history of the area. The places we went had delicious food. We were so glad to have done this tour.

I enjoyed this experience so much. From the amazing food to the great conversation, spending a few hours with Jose Alberto was like hanging out with a good friend. After sampling some tasty street food at three different locations, we ended the night at an incredible cantina for a rooftop drink that overlooked the city at night with a beautiful view. I really enjoyed our conversation the entire experience - it is obvious Jose Alberto loves his city and Ecuador. He shared some fascinating history and facts at each stop. I can't recommend this experience enough - you will love it!

Alberto was a nice guy and knew a lot about the food in Quito. However I expected a lot more for $60 in Quito. For some context, doing a day trip including transportation costs, a driver and guide in Quito is ~$100, and food tours that are longer in Bogota (which is a more expensive city than Quito) with more restaurants are less than half the price. I knew the price going in but I did expect more for the price. Having said that, Alberto was a good guide/host and spoke fluent English and was able to explain everything well despite the actual scope and food being underwhelming for the price paid. I’m not sure if it’s because Airbnb takes a cut or it’s more economical for the tour to be run at a higher price point given the lack of travel during COVID. Either way, for me it wasn’t worth the price.

This was our first Airbnb experience and we had a fantastic time with Jose. He gave us some great history about Quito, shared some stories and of course took us to amazing local spots for great food and drink. We wouldn’t have been able to find these places without his expertise. He had us laughing the whole night and I would highly recommend anyone to partake in this Airbnb experience! Bring your walking shoes and an empty stomach!
