As the grandchild of the village chef I grew up in the kitchen following her to every cooking engagement she had or even for the Saturday soup. She past on all her know-how and tricks, today I now cook for her and she has approved of my meals. I now prepare traditional meals with a modern flair teaching these skills to locals and visitors alike. I see myself as a Jamaica's culinary anthropologists passing on grandma legacy.

Andrew was a wonderful host for our cooking class! We chose to prepare two dishes, and he was extremely helpful while taking the time to share interesting stories with us. We also had the opportunity to swim in the river located behind his house which was breathtaking. Overall, we would 10/10 recommend cooking with Andrew!

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our experience with Andrew and his family. We engaged in a range of experiences from seeing a large outdoor market at Tivoli, preparing and cooking a nice Jamaican inspired dinner, meeting his family, venturing to a waterfall, and completing with ice cream from the Devon House. Andrew was interesting, charming, and a great host.

Andrew picked us up from our lodging and we zipped around town making our way to the bustling downtown market for fresh goods and unique Jamaican tastes. He was friendly and joking the entire time. A few more stops and we landed at his family home where we were warmly welcomed. Our experience continued with the 2 of us + Andrew in the kitchen guiding us through the traditional tastes, flavors, and prep methods of Jamaican heritage. We elected to add on to the menu and purchased a whole fish, which Andrew was glad to facilitate the prep and cooking. We took an evening stroll to the river & waterfall, but elected not to have a swim in the night. Overall it really felt like Andrew cared about our experience, takes a lot of pride in his Jamaican culture, and desires to share it with others. We would 100% elect this memorable, personal experience again with him!

Me and my friend booked Andrew's experience with a short notice (previous night). Andrew responded quickly and agreed to organize the experience. 10 minutes before our meeting time he texted saying he has family issues and has to cancel. We were sad and asked if it would still be possible to have the experience. Andrew then organized his brother to meet us, give us a special tour of the city and eventually also go to the market and organize the cooking. His brother was a super cook and very friendly host, he shared exciting stories about himself, taught us to cook Jamaican national dish and offered good company. He even picked us up and drove us back. He knew lot about food and cooking and he really was a sweet kind-hearted man who we had a pleasure to meet. Andrew's description about the experience included swimming in the river and different drinks. We couldn't swim in the river as it was too late and only water was offered. Overall we're happy with the experience and recommend it! It was very authentic and local. Many thanks to Andrew's brother who was willing to help out in the last minute! :)

Cooking with Andrew was one of the highlights of our trip! Andrew is beautifully warm and welcoming and immediately makes you feel like family. He took us to the outdoor market place to get some of the foods that we would be cooking and we got to cook right in his home and meet his wonderful family. Andrew is an amazing teacher and taught us not only the dish we requested but let us pick items from his backyard and garden to try and make. He also invited us to the waterfalls behind his house to have a swim. As if that was not enough he also invited us to a play at the National Theater called All Aboard. The entire day was magical to say the least. This is an experience that you would get no where else. If you have a chance to know and have this adventure with Andrew take it! You will absolutely not regret it.

Our time with Andrew was so wonderful! It was refreshing to get a taste of small town life in the hills above Kingston, learn how to make the national fish of Jamaica, and take a dip in the brisk waters of the Hope River. Andrew was informative, attentive, and helpful, and super responsive to my 30,000 questions! I would 100% book this experience again, and highly recommend him for anyone looking to get a taste of true life on the island.
