What you'll do

History, Legends and Traditions of Coimbra.

In about 2h30 min you will be able to get to know all the main attractions of the city, seasoned with legends, famous local people and a pinch of gastronomy that never hurts.

Starting from Largo da Portagem we will go into the Baixa, the lower part of the city, walking for about an hour in the streets that made the history of the city in the last century. We will continue on Avenida Sá da Bandeira, a long avenue characterized by student houses and night clubs. Praça da República, Erasmus meeting point, and the Botanical Garden, 13.5 hectares owned by the university, will be the prelude to the visit of the university center.
We will descend through the alleys of the Sé Velha, the old cathedral, until we return to the starting point.

We will visit: Monastery of S.Cruz, Municipal Market, Jardim da Sereia, Botanical Garden, University (external only), Old Cathedral.

During the tour various city legends will be told.
Other things to keep in mind
Coimbra is a city that develops on a hill, keep in mind that the path will be partly uphill. For this we will go calmly :)

Neapolitan of origin, arriving in Portugal in 2011 like many other young people for the Erasmus project and I fell in love with it.

A graduate in Archeology and History of the Arts, today I am a tour guide.

I hate the unproductive mass "ignorant tourism" and for this reason I decided to start my own business showing in my own way, with the eyes of a lover, the one that convinced me to stay in such a small place.

Legends are the thing I like best and the streets of Coimbra are full of them.

This walk really made Coimbra come alive for us with history, traditions, and everyday life. Samantha did a great job of introducing us to Coimbra, a city she clearly knows and loves, and answered all our questions from ancient history to modern day life. Thank you for a great afternoon.

We did the english version of the tour with the lovely Samantha. We had a blast strolling around the city with her and chat about everything. The storytelling of her was excellent and it was very easy to follow. The tour lasted about 2.5 hours and we stayed the last bit in a typical café with her and had some Ginja and she showed us her favorite Fado music. All in all would definitley recommend this tour since Samantha is very nice and knows a lot about the city, the history and the life as a student in Coimbra. Thank you once again. Katharina & Dominik

Walking in Coimbra with Carmine was trully insightful. His personality and critical sense made a difference when comparing to a basic tour. I do recommend to someone visiting Coimbra for the first time.
