What you'll do

As you sip on coffee or cold drink, with guided, professional instruction, you'll have a fun and creative time making an item out of clay on a pottery wheel. I will show you how to work with the clay, get it ready for the wheel, center it, and eventually start shaping. Usually students can make either a small bowl, plate, mug or vase on their first try. You can add accents to the pieces by carving them or adding accents from clay i.e. handle.

You can take the pottery home with you the same day you make them, or—if you'd like—I can fire your work, glaze it, and ship it to you for a small fee. Or better yet you can come back a few weeks after and paint your piece!

I also offer other experiences: canvas painting, glass fusing, hand building with clay, mosaics, glow in the dark painting, pottery painting, silkscreening.

***Drop me a note if you'd like alternate time for your appointment.***

CHECK OUT MY OTHER ART EXPERIENCES

I've been teaching art for over 20 years, and I love what I do. I am patient and fun, and enjoy sharing my knowledge of clay. Students tell me that they've always wanted to "throw," and—because of my passion for clay—I am a great teacher. It fills me with joy to see others succeed at something they've never done before.

I had a great time. I have never used a wheel to make pottery before. By the end of the session I made a small bowl and plate that I look forward to using in the future. Magdalena was a great instructor.

My husband and I both received one on one instruction and each made two small bowls. Both Magdalena and her employee were knowledgeable and kind. We had such a wonderful time that we decided to stay and paint some of the available pottery. We can’t wait to come back and paint the pieces that we made on the wheel. I highly recommend Artventures. What a great way to spend an afternoon in Ellicottville!!
