What you'll do

This Is a really fun and easy class for anyone!!!

You dont need to be artistic to make something amazing on the potter’s wheel.

The throwing explanation and demonstrations will walk you through the process step by step in 3 phases:

1. Centering-getting the clay centered
2. Opening -forming the bottom
3. Pulling-making the walls of the vessel

After walking through the first pot you will have time to play and practice more on your own. There is plenty of time for practicing and people make on average between 1-3 pots.

The design of this class is to feel the almost magical experience of turning spinning clay into something functional like a cup or bowl.

After your class I can finish, glaze, and fire the pots you choose to keep for a small shipping and firing fee.

I ship domestic or international depending on where you live. So no matter where you are from you can still get your hand made creations delivered.

If you are interested, we can also donate your pots to a local animal shelter annual sale.
Other things to note
Have you ever wanted to make your own mug or a gift for some one? In this class everyone usually makes something amazing.

Running late for class? Maui time is in effect so just enjoy the drive.

I love teaching ceramics. I am so happy to have a class with Airbnb and share pottery making. Its more than just a fun experience...its a life experience.

I teach in multiple ways so that people can grasp the concepts whether they learn best from demonstration, explanation, or by actual hands on experience. I try to preview key ideas and follow through with repetition and lots of positive support.

I like guidlines more than rules in general...so I like to share my ideas and then support people to integrate the information in a way that works for them.

I teach the classes in phases: centering, opening, and pulling. Each step builds to the next. The results have been amazing and I have been shipping out some really beautiful finished art work to guests.

I am stoked to be able to share this class with you.

Where you'll be

Maybe the best weather in hawaii. The ceramics studio is located in a quiet family oriented neighborhood and is safe for all ages. We have a small dog “Bijou” that can stay indoors during the class if needed.

At 1000 ft. elevation, this experience is a perfect stop on your trip to Haleakala Summit which is about 50 minutes further up the mountain.

To respect my neighbors please drive all the way back and park behind or beside my highlander.

David delivers excellence and fun. He is a gracious, thoughtful teacher with patience and a technical approach that gets results from his instruction. My wife and I were amazed and delighted with this experience. Highly recommended!

A good teacher makes a good experience, and Dave fits the criteria for a good teacher. He's definitely a significant part of what makes this class worth taking. I had a blast in this introduction to pottery class, and it's really inspired me to go on making pottery. Dave was encouraging, instructive, and entertaining -- and working with clay on a potter's wheel was a little slice of peace in a lovely vacation.

I would extremely recommend doing this with someone, especially with family. David gave us memories to look back on and pottery to have that my daughter and wife made. Every time I use it, I can reminisce about that amazing day that David was apart of and made happen. Thanks David!

Awesome time and highly recommend. We had never done this before and walked away with fun memories. David is great and very, very helpful. He made it easy to learn, his skills and techniques were the best. Side note, bring bug spray for mosquitos, but if you don’t David probably has some you can use. Totally a fun experience and glad we did it!!
