What you'll do

We begin our tour walking to the San Cristobal hill, trek to the top and enjoy one of the best views of Santiago. Upon the incline there are several options to cool off, eat a snack and rest for a while ( (if you don't want to walk, you can get on the bus). Then, we will descend and walk from Barrio Bellavista, crossing the Commercial District Patronato to the market area. First we will visit La Vega, the largest food market in Santiago, where anyone can purchase delicious food if they feel inclined. Then we will go through La Vega Chica and Tirso Molina until we reach the Central Market, now transformed into a place specializing in the sale of seafood and local Chilean food. Next to the market, there is a place where you can also taste the famous Empanada de Pino. We will continue sightseeing the Center of Santiago, and visit some emblematic places such as the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Ex-Congress, the Courts of Justice, the Paseo Banderas and the Palacio de la Moneda. Anyway, if there is any special interest to visit somewhere, we can also include it in the tour.
ON MONDAYS THERE IS NO FUNICULAR
Other things to note
It is a long walk through the city, including a climb to the hill, which should be taken into account before we begin. Bring money in case you fancy some of the food suggestions on the tour.

I am a Chilean who lived a long time Venezuela. When I returned, 9 years ago, I explored the city where I was born, and learned to value all the spaces and services. I have been a host through Airbnb for 4 years and have organized tours for my guests. I am trying to show a beautiful perspective of the city which begins in the center of Santiago and the climb of Cerro San Cristobal. I love being a tourist in my own city, being able to check every corner, discover new attractions and show all the details to others.

Conhecer um pouco sobre Santiago com a Valentina foi uma experiência muito boa. Ela personalizou o tour de acordo com a nossa demanda e pudemos aproveitar o pouco tempo que tivemos.

We had the best time on our walking tour of Santiago! We hiked to the top of the viewpoint at Cerro San Cristobal to see the virgin mary statue and see the city from above. (Be sure to wear good shoes for that, if you choose not to take the funicular. It's a path with loose gravel, not for the weak!) We walked all over the markets, in and out of neighborhoods, all with different vibes. We felt safe and very welcomed the entire time we were with Valentina. She has great tips about where to go to eat, drink a beer, have wine, etc. So much fun, great value!

Thank you so much Valentina for making my last day after 4 months travelling in South America a wonderful ending. And showing me with only a few hours a city that I definitely want to come back to. Your knowledge and enthusiasm was fantastic.

First - The communication was excellent. She was in touch with us ahead of time and gave us all of the information we needed. It is good to know about the hike to the top vs. taking the tram. If it has been a while since you've gone on a hike or don't think you can tackle a 40 minute hike up a challenging hill, I would recommend the tram (at least for the ride up). Second - she was flexible. We expected to do this experience on the same day as flying into the area, our flight to Santiago was delayed and we asked to push back the start time. Valentina helped us by moving the start time. The tour itself took us to many places around the city and to some incredible sites. You are able to try some traditional food, see the markets and see the city from multiple angles! It is a great tour and you will really enjoy it!
