What you'll do

There are a number of people who offer this walking tour but how this differs is that there is a lot of storytelling involved along with maps and historical anecdotes. We shall also be visiting some non-touristy monuments and places associated with local legends which are otherwise rare to access.

We shall be walking all over Chandni Chowk (The Road from Red Fort to Fatehpuri Masjid and via several of its alleys and streets). We shall be going through some of the most popular monuments as well as some monuments which have been forgotten over time. At each of these monuments, I will be telling you the story associated with them, as well as try and comment a little bit on their architectural style.

There are monuments which are residential, some of them are religious, there are some tombs, while there are some buildings which have developed different uses over time. Right from the Mughal era till the Modern age, these streets have witnessed several rulers and with everyone, something new has been added to this part of the town.

During our walk, we shall be peeling these layers of time with the help of some old images and maps, as well as stories and poetry. On our way, we shall also taste the food that this part of the city has to offer.

I am a radio programming producer and former ad-man who has spent countless hours in the streets of Old Delhi. I have explored the nooks and corners of the old quarters of the city for years and I can tell you some of the best stories, give you an insight on the architecture and the heritage aspect of this part of the city. I also know the best places for food in the area. Exploring Old Delhi and walking in these streets is my passion and I love to spread this joy with others and tell them about the history of Old Delhi, which is why I have started this experience on AirBnB.
