What you'll do

Stroll through the city with a professor-entrepreneur

A visitor can arrive in Cuba through traditional tourism channels, but may lose a sense of the reality standing right in front of him or her. Spending time with a professor and entrepreneur deeply involved in Cuban current issues will help reveal the mysteries of the local economy and private sector. We would love to invite you to a walk through Old Havana, the ideal place to see the heterogeneity of the Cuban society, the achievements of the private sector, and the huge challenges ahead. Bring all your questions and we will do our best to help you understand the complexity of our reality.
If your group wants to visit different neighborhoods out of our route and experience local transportation in the traditional Cuban way, let us know with time so we can tailor an especial session for you!

I studied economics at the University of Havana and became a professor and, later, an entrepreneur. I've always been passionate about the development of my country, and I am a believer in the potential of the private sector. Now I'm leading a team of economists, including university professors and entrepreneurs focusing in property management and the developing of this revealing Experience on the Cuban economy. We would love you to join to our Experience, and invite you to stay at our wonderful listings (click on my profile to see all our places).

This was a really interesting experience. I learned about Cuba’s history and current economy and my host, Yasmany, was always asking for questions and willing to share details about anything I was interested in learning more about.

This tour was awesome! After a few days of wandering around Havanah, my husband and I realized we really did not know how the economy functioned at all and we wanted some answers! We really loved this tour and recommended it to everyone we met.

I took this incredible tour with Yasmany. He was an expert on the topic. My main goal was to find out why Cuba has 2 currencies. I had no idea I would learn so much. He answered all of my questions and invited me to contact him with additional questions in the future should they arise. I highly recommend this tour to everyone wanting to learn about Cuba’s economy and history.

David was unavailable so I met up with his friend Ernesto. He arrived on time and we walked and walked but the time went really fast. I went on this trip because there are so many questions that I have, how on earth does the the Cuba economy work? We walked around Havana a lot and time went quite fast as Ernesto talked continuously on the full trip :) As we were one to one on this trip Ernesto could talk about anything that I asked. I would recommend this trip as every visitor to Cuba should be finding out how the place and people tick!

Yasmany was our tour guide, he was super knowledgeable and highly interactive. He answered all of our questions and had a great multi layered conversation with the group. He shared about his life and experiences. I was pleasantly surprised on how much I enjoyed this experience.

I had my tour with Ernesto who was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was more than understanding the economy but also falling in love with Cuba and its people. It was the perfect ending to my trip.
