Hi, this is Kota. I have been guiding about Sumo for over 3 years now. I just started guiding about Sumo, as my company send me to there, but since I go to the Sumo stable almost everyday, some of Sumo wrestlers became friend of mine and I go out for dinner with them sometimes. Having time with them outside, brings many "Wow" culture of Sumo to me. Let me take you to Sumo stable, and introduce my friends.

This was a great experience! The host met me at the station and we walked to the sumo stable. Really cool to see how hard these guys train.

Amazing experience. We met another host since Kota could not meet us. Note you have to sit for 1-2 hours on the ground. There are many other tour groups that come. Once in a lifetime experience.

Had a fantastic experience at the sumo stable. The practice and techniques are very interesting. Be prepared to sit cross-legged for a few hours. Well worth it for a once in a lifetime experience!

I am glad to have come across this page while browsing for activities to do in Japan. It’s a truly unique and valuable experience which we couldn’t have had easy access to if not for the lovely locals like Kota-san and Masako-san. Masako-san was our guide that day and she has been amazing. She made us feel really welcome. I would highly recommend people to go for this, to witness what goes on behind one of the most iconic sports and culture.

This was one of the best things I did when I was in Tokyo. When inside the stable, you are really up close to the sumo wrestlers. Its about 2 hours long and most people sat on cushions at the edge of the practice arena, however there were chairs behind for others. I went on Christmas day and it was quite busy, with quite a few others there (from other tour parties) but the space was adequate and at the end you could have your photo taken with the wrestlers. Kota was unable to make it on the day, however, a colleague of his attended instead who was very knowledgable and informative. Would definitely recommend this experience to others.

Watching the sumo practice was a dream come true for me. Kato couldn’t make it so he arranged for another guide to take me. She shared her personal story about trying five times to get tickets for a sumo tournament and her excitement when she finally got box seats on her sixth attempt. The sumo practice lasted for two hours and it was fascinating. I highly recommend this experience to anyone interested to see the sumos in action and learning about their history.
