Farmstay vacation rentals in East Gippsland Shire

This was my second time staying there, so I knew I would love it. We ended up with the water-facing view which was even better this time. We brought all the food we'd need and Kristen generously provided homemade granola, crackers and bread throughout our three days (and we had a teenager with us). Perfect weather meant we could get up with the birds, enjoy the water, go off and enjoy the koalas on the other side of the island (not to mention the kangaroos all around the property), which made for great days. Drawbacks to keep in mind: bedrooms are up a steepish flight of stairs and the bathroom, while functional is small and awkward (it was clearly an add-on from a different era). These were not dealbreakers for us at all - and this was true in the other unit there, so I suspected it was similar and came back anyway. The splendid outweighs the inconvenient by a mile.

We absolutely loved spending time at Timbarra Hideaway, it's a beautiful place to get away and spend some time off-line! We'll definitely be back :)

We had the pleasure of staying at Peter and Donrita’s beautiful farm-style Airbnb for a night, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel incredibly welcome with their warmth and hospitality. Peter’s knowledge about farming was truly fascinating, and we thoroughly enjoyed learning from him during our stay. It was evident that he is deeply passionate about his work, and his insights were both educational and inspiring. The house itself was stunning—spacious, tastefully designed, and surrounded by the serene beauty of the countryside. Every corner of the property reflected the love and care they put into maintaining it. The service was exceptional, and the hospitality extended to us went above and beyond expectations. We left with fond memories and a greater appreciation for farm life. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a tranquil escape with gracious hosts and an enriching experience.

We had a lovely stay at the farm. The house was clean and tidy and suited two families well. The location was really central to the beautiful Gippsland Lakes region. Only a short trip to Lakes Entrance and surrounding townships. The kids loved feeding the resident sheep and enjoyed the enclosed garden space too for a play during the day. Christine was a great host, everything was well set up and she was really easy to communicate with. Would recommend to others for sure.

A wonderful, well equipped Log cabin in a spectacular location, with lots to do in the area. Great support and advice from Rosie and Peter. We highly recommend the Buchan Log Cabins for a relaxing get-away.

9 days of the most beautiful, peaceful environment… and slow time. Utterly therapeutic. Made thoroughly welcome from the day we arrived… Cath, who looks after and hosts the farm, was warm, informative and untiringly helpful! Having the pristine Bundara River running right along a boundary provided for fly fishing opportunities and long walks with our pair of labradors… the puppy even learned to swim while we were there! The rustic hut had all that was needed for a simple, comfortable stay, with a deck where we could watch the foals race and listen to the water running from the dam. Looking forward to our return visit!

Comfortable home tucked in a green valley. Close enough to town that its easy to get in and out but still feel private.

Wonderful place to stay with bonus being pet friendly. Melanie is a great host who understands what makes a stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Johns property has the wow factor, from the views, the property and the accommodation. Everything inside has been thought out with care and makes it feel so special. This is not just a place to stay it’s an experience!!!!

Robyn’s house exceeded our expectations by a landslide!! The house is absolutely stunning, Robyn has thought of every little thing that you may need, from every kind of kitchen utensil to laundry bags and soaps. The bed was so comfy and the house was cleaner than any hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Not a single spec of dirt anywhere, even the outdoor bath was immaculate (and so lush!!). Finally, Robyn as a host may just be the most considerate Airbnb host EVER. We entered the house to find homemade ice cream, beer and wine, crackers and dip, honey and jams etc. The generosity and thoughtfulness of these hosts is next level and I cannot thank them enough for making our stay so comfortable and special. We will absolutely be back, thank you Robyn!! 😊

Angela and Neil's location was sensational. The place oozed quality and cleanliness with a lot of space that was terrific for my wife and I to relax and unwind. There was so much accurate and useful information to do bushwalks or use a water taxi and how to use every appliance that was there, along with them having thought of every need of their guests. The welcoming was amazing with a nice surprise waiting for us in the fridge. The surrounds were immaculate and we had an amazing walk around the property and just loved every moment of it. Truly enjoyed this so much and could not be more happy with the choice we made.

This is one of the best places I have stayed in with airbnb. Feels like we got more than what we paid for. Such a luxurious relaxing vibe, beautiful sunsets and nightly bonfires. Lynn was so accessible and kind, my mother even asked her for the brand of her mattresses. Very comfy! Will definitely come back.

We loved our stay in Frogs Hollow. The house was lovely with a lot of open space. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom had a ceiling fan. There were also two fans in the living room / kitchen area. The view from the property was fantastic. We saw wallabies (we think!) from the veranda which was amazing. Beautiful views at sunset too. The BBQ was great, plus there was a microwave, hobs and air fryer. It was handy to have a washing machine and washing powder provided.

2nd time staying. What can I say that I haven’t already said. Amazing place with an awesome view. Peaceful relaxing and just amazing.

Absolutely stunning place! Everything was perfect from the get go! Lynn met us at the property and showed us around and was in constant communication and went as far as giving us advice on what to do each day! The fridge was stocked up with lovely goodies and the amenities in the pantry were fantastic. The place itself was amazingly spectacular with some stunning views, not to mention how remarkably clean it was too!! The location was fantastic too only a 5 minute drive to orbost town which has everything! There is no doubt we will stay again! (We actually extended our stay by a day purely because of how awesome the place was as well!).

Lynn was a gracious and helpful host who truly loves this property, which has been in her family for generations. She takes loving care of the place, and it shows. Words and pictures cannot adequately describe the magic of this place. The house is built to accentuate the beauty of the land, and the land is beautiful. We had parrots and cockatoos and ducks and bunnies on the property, with friendly cows at the bottom of the yard hill and kangaroos just down the road. The yard and garden were so beautiful we did not want to leave. The rooms were all comfortable and luxurious. We spent a wonderful Christmas here with our family and would definitely come back. Thanks Lynn for making our Christmas special!

Jo was a great host - welcomed us as soon as we reached the place and offered great flexibility with check-in and out. The creek walk that she suggested from within the property was nice and my daughter still misses Toby & Rosie (two lovely dogs) that were our companions throughout the stay!

I had such a lovely stay at Adobe in the Honeymoon suite with my dog. It’s such a cute and quirky cottage with a beautiful view and not too close to the other cottages. It’s in a nice area with good walks close by and the shops and beaches were about a 10 min drive. Julie very kindly left chocolate, wine, milk, juice, yoghurts, English muffins and all sorts of bits to enjoy. It’s a really great place to stay and I do highly recommend it but a couple of things to note (it does say these things on the listing but in case you don’t realise). Firstly there’s no aircon so it gets very hot and stuffy in there on hot days even with the ceiling fan on. I brought a mini fan with me which helped a bit. Secondly there is a giant window/skylight above the bed so if you’re very sensitive to the light in the mornings that’s something to consider or bring an eye mask. Those couple of things aside it really is an amazing place to stay!

We loved our stay at Hakuna Matata. The property was so tranquil and serene we were instantly relaxed. A beautiful outlook from inside the apartment or from the huge verandah overlooking the garden and fields - so much for our dog to look out at and she was also made very welcome! The accommodation was well-appointed and very comfortable and our hosts had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable, even a little work station area that was much appreciated as well. Great property that we would recommend!

Jo’s place was truly a highlight on our first trip to Australia. Peaceful setting with beautiful views. Loved being able to walk to see the Highland cows and their babies. Daily visits from their sweet dog Toby. Recommendations of local attractions was wonderful loved seeing the Stingrays at the beach. Overall, the most amazing hosts on our whole vacation.

We had a wonderful stay at the Tiny Home. The location is stunning, with beautiful views, and we enjoyed watching the kangaroos grazing on the hills. The alpacas and sheep on the farm add to the charm of the place making the experience even more enjoyable. Joe communicated well throughout our stay. Highly recommend!

Natalie and Martin were friendly and responsiveness before and during our stay including a lovely welcome beverage! The accom was beautifully presented and had all we needed. We honestly could have stayed longer and could picture being repeat visitors! An amazing stay. Really, thank you!

Lily was exceptional! It was a clean, beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Our pet whippet LOVED the open paddock to run around freely. Def what we needed after a long year!

Bumblebrook farm, Jo and Andy’s place was amazing. Had a fantastic 2 nights there The views, accommodation, surroundings and animals, especially the highland cows with a 1 day old baby was fabulous. So peaceful. The pub and cafe 10 minutes down the road were also great for dinner, breakfast and lunch. Just a short drive down to Bega, Tatura, Merimbula and Eden. Would highly recommend and would certainly return if down that was again. Thanks Jo & Andy Mark & Judy
