Measuring the economic impact of Airbnb
Travel through the Airbnb platform boosts local economies and creates a ripple effect that spreads beyond just guests and hosts, to small businesses and service providers.
We are actively supporting community tourism by working in partnership with local governments and organisations so that more people can share in the economic and social benefits of travel on Airbnb.

Our latest projects
Adapting to the rise of remote work
The rise of remote work and shifting travel patterns have helped to drive increased flexibility and dynamism in cities. To understand this better, we worked with sustainable development experts, Arup, to explore how cities can respond to emerging challenges and opportunities.

Live and Work Anywhere
We also launched the Live and Work Anywhere initiative to recognise destinations that are embracing the potential of remote work. In Asia, we partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to promote the country as an ideal destination for remote workers and also worked with Malaysia's Digital Economy Corporation to raise awareness about the country’s new digital nomad visa. In Australia, we partnered with Queensland to highlight the advantages of the state for remote workers.

Airbnb City Portal
The City Portal is a first-of-its-kind resource to help local governments and tourism organisations better understand the Airbnb landscape and tourism trends in their community, as well as helping cities to enforce their short-term rental laws. We continue to add tools and features to make this resource as useful as possible.
