I recommend staying here. The bed is very comfortable after long day work. Staff is very friendly and the place is clean and easy to find.

Traditional Lalibela apartment top twin

We were picked up at the airport, which is 20 minutes away. We stayed for two nights in this very clean and nice apartment. A tasteful breakfast on the balcony with the breathtaking vieuw is very special. Haftamu is easy to reach and reacts fast. He tipped us for a very good guide for the rockchurces. Entrance to the Unesco-side is 100 USD (you can also pay in Birr). We gave the guide for the whole day 2450 Birr. Personel of Haftamu, very nice ladys who live nearby, suggest that we take dinner at Unique, a little restaurant nearby where we had a good and tasty pizza. The guide of the rockchurches tippes us the next day for Segeret, a restaurant on the third floor at the central square, also very tasteful. We had to deal with curvieuw, but that was no problem for us.

An Ethiopian platter is presented on a large, round tray. Various traditional dishes are arranged artistically, featuring colorful vegetables, lentils, and a serving of injera at the center. The vibrant greens and reds contrast with the earthy tones of the platter, creating an appetizing display.

Red Rock Lalibela Hotel At the heart of Lalibela

We had an excellent stay with Shimeles at the Red Rock Guest House. The place is very well run by a very kind and thoughtful team. Our room was very nice, extremely clean and had incredible views of the mountains from our balcony. The shower had nice hot water, just remember to plug in the hot water heater for a while before you shower. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the coffee ceremoniously prepared by the team throughout the day. The location is great, near the center of town. Within walking distance to many things and a quick tuktuk ride to the market or churches. If we ever return to Lalibela, we will stay here again. In the meantime, we will send all our friends.
