Family-friendly vacation rentals in Colac Otway Shire

We stayed with our two dogs and all of us really enjoyed a weekend away, the location is a nice close walk to the beach and only 2kms from the Main Street of Apollo bay so nice and easy to grab a morning coffee before heading out exploring. The backyard is very small and wouldn’t be escape proof with the gap by the carport and the very short fences but was no problem with our two as they stay close and don’t jump fences, really just enough for them to be able to go outside to the toilet before coming back in to lounge on their beds. Would happily stay here again 😊

Stunning location with views of the sea and farm next door. Warm and cosy with a gorgeous fire place. Great for winter! And only 3 minutes from Apollo Bay.

The house is amazing, but the view is incredible! We felt really close to nature as we were greeted by cockatoos and a koala on our very first morning, followed by some lorikeets the days after. There was a power outage on our last night, but I contacted the team (fairly late at night) and they were super quick to respond, supplying me with a realistic ETA followed by a quick resolution of my problem. Will be staying again and definitely recommend it!

Pauline’s property in Apollo Bay was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at home. The property is beautifully maintained, with stunning views of the surrounding nature that made every morning special. The interior is cozy yet modern, with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The location is perfect for us — peaceful and chill! Coming back to such a serene retreat was the perfect way to unwind after a great day out exploring Apollo Bay. Pauline was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed and offering great local tips. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and the warm hospitality. Overall, our experience was exceptional, and we would highly recommend!

We really enjoyed out stay at Tree Tops. Lovely peaceful location with great ocean views. Well appointed house with tasteful and comfortable furnishings. Very well equiped kitchen and bonus wood pizza oven outside that we made the most of. Great for more than one family or couples. All you need for a great family holiday.

We enjoyed our 4 night stay at the cottage. The place is well equipped and great location, just 15 mins out of Colac. Plenty of outdoor space for the pooches to play along with easy access to red rock lookout via a scenic walk direct from the property. We will definitely be back! Thank you Garry and Sharyn.

A last minute request met with warm hospitality. The cottage was warm, ambient, with classical music playing in the background and a heated bed with the electric blanket. Whilst it rained the whole time, my little dog and I enjoyed the peaceful retreat and braved the rain for a walk to the near by shops. The location is perfect with everything at your door steps. Tony and Graeme are fantastic hosts. The fresh fruit bowl was generous and the abundant books, games, DVDS were enough to want to stay in and chill. Very lucky to have found this home away from home.

We loved our stay at Wye River. Great place to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday with our children and grandchildren. Even though it was mid winter, we were able to keep warm. The power failed in the area, but having the log fire we were still able to enjoy the view and lovely bush setting in comfort. The house is relatively new, and I believe it would have been a very expensive build, and recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of luxury for a group gathering. Thankyou Jack.

We loved our stay here. Such a beautiful view from the deck and bedroom. Laying in bed listening to the waves was perfect. Even though we had a very cold weekend and lost power one day the house stayed warm with the wood fire. Beds were very comfortable and warm. everything you could think you needed was provided. Easy walk to the Wye River store and cafe. Would love to come back in summer and be able to relax on the deck watching the ocean.

We loved our stay - although the space is on the smaller side, everything is very thoughtfully and practically arranged. We stayed with 2 small children with no issues. And the heated swimming pool and spa was a delight. Highly recommend this place for stopping over during great ocean Road trips.

We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing two-night stay at Glen View as a stopover during our Melbourne to Adelaide journey on the Great Ocean Road. Johanna is a truly beautiful section of the GOR where rolling green hills and farmlands meet the ocean. The cottage is delightfully laid out and well provisioned, with quality bedding and toiletries, a lovely fire-place and a shed full of wood (and reverse cycle a/c for the summer months and the impatient!) A visit to the chicken shed to collect farm fresh eggs and the orchard for some lemons was a nice treat for us suburbanites! The kitchen is fully functional with pretty much all equipment you could need, including a coffee machine. Absolutely loved it! Highly recommend!!!

We had a great long weekend away at Chris’ property. The house had plenty of space for us all with amazing views despite the wet weather of the weekend. We were kept warm and dry with the wood fire and heaters in all bedrooms. Would highly recommend and stay again.

Had really nice stay at Johanna Seaside Cottages 'Farm House', was the perfect country escape we were looking for and the kids loved collecting fresh laid eggs in the morning and having access to an indoor heated pool. Only minor complaint was not being able to connect to the internet Friday evening and not being able contact our host after 5pm. That said, the property caretake (Ben) was super helpful when he checked in the next day. Would definitely recommend if looking for a country escape along the coast.

We have enjoyed a very peaceful week in Joanna Cottage. Despite a couple of stormy nights, we felt cozy and warm inside in front of the log fire. Such a stunning view! I loved visiting the hens for a couple of fresh eggs, and there was everything we needed inside the cottage to make for a comfortable stay. Our hosts were always available to help us with any questions. A wonderful place to stay.

We highly recommend the Kookaburra Wellness Retreat as an amazing place to stay with great hosts! From the very warm welcome, the well thought out guest experience included the friendly animals, (multiple!) fascinating entertaining garden 'rooms', to the stunning beach/ocean just across the Great Ocean Road (Wow) AND THEN, you can explore the wonderful area of the Otway Ranges and Apollo Bay. So much to see and do, this is a multi night stay for sure. Enjoy. We certainly did :)

Great stay for the price!

We had the most wonderful time - our accommodation was perfect, had everything we needed, with an ocean view! The friendliness and hospitality Mike gave us was what made our time here so special - we enjoyed walking up the hill for sunrises and sunsets, greeting their Shetland ponies, finding their resident koala, and watching the cockatoos fly about. This is a very beautiful place to visit if you want to spend a few days relaxing and disconnecting. Would most definitely recommend, and we will be returning!
