Vacation rentals with breakfast in Clutha District

A beautiful retreat, wish we had more time in this cosy and historical home. It was lovely meeting the host who was extremely hospitable and stayed up to receive us personally, gave a tour of the house, and even shared about its history. The rooms were comfortable and housed artefacts from the past, albeit a few bugs, which is normal for a farmland. All in all a pleasant and memorable stay!

Wonderful stay in a beautiful home with gracious hosts! Very happy with everything about our stay - comfortable bed in a spacious room and we woke up to a brilliant view of snow on the nearby hills.

Pippa was an amazing host, she provided excellent facilities, and lots of yummy treats. Really loved the glass of rosé in the evening. The rooms were warm, it was cosy. Amazing views of the valley. Her animals and gardens were stunning. Highly recommend a stay here!

Loved staying at Lynne’s place. Such a treasure to meet her and Fred. Loved our accommodation and looking at the other stone cottage. Watches the bees on the lavander plants as we had dinner. Felt so at home and welcomed. Would come again when back in NZ.

It was a unique and memorable opportunity to stay at the Middlemarch property where my mother, Natalie, had lived from 1927 to 1944. I had spent many holidays there and so it was a most fulfilling experience to introduce my grownup children and two young grandchildren to the ancestral home and heritage. We also scattered my 97yo mother’s ashes on the Rock & Pillar Range behind Strathmore. Liz was very hospitable and showed us through the main house where she lives. She also provided delicious homemade yogurt with apricots, raspberry and blackcurrant jams and locally sourced honey for breakfast & snacks. We met several lovely neighbours and local personalities during our 3 day stay. We enjoyed eating at the local Kissing Gate cafe and the Strath Taieri Hotel. The landscape was magnificent and we really enjoyed all aspects of our stay.

We loved our stay at The Fern and Thistle - and next time will stay for longer! We were warmly greeted and given a tour by our hosts, Darryn and Sandy. They set up the hot tub and sauna for me and showed us the free drinks in the hallway. The room was spacious, bed comfortable, and fresh made bread awaited us at the (included) continental breakfast. We could not have loved our time more at this gorgeous, historical location. What a fantastic stay; we will be back!

Lovely stay, all the extra touches were amazing and so appreciated. Breakfast was great & the local raspberries cherries & blueberries were delicious. We loved the port crackers & cheese. Thank you for your hospitality.

Great, country side retreat. Perfect stop over spot between Dunedin and Queenstown.

Stunning place, lots of little extras that make it special eg chocolates and cold free beer. Host very friendly and made you feel right at home. Free breakfast with homemade bread and jam was an added extra. The house has a great history. This is one of the best places we have stayed
