Serene Asante Village Home - Ghanaian hospitality

We were the first guests to stay here and not everything was set up yet. The host was there to help us get to the location and went out of his way several times to help us, including going and getting the washing machine from another place in the area so we could wash our clothes (the listing said they had a washing machine but they hadn’t brought it yet). The host is very welcoming and extremely hospitable. The house is on a compound and has security so it feels very safe. It is a quaint, nice house and very beautiful. There is a comfy common area to socialize in. The house has several rooms with individual locking doors some with private bathrooms and showers some with a communal bathroom and shower. The booking showed that it was one rate for the whole house, it turns out that it is actually per room and I hope that gets updated in the listing. Even with that the host went out of his way many times and in the morning I got a chance to see part of their farm on their property. The host was very informative about the area and gave many suggestions on things to do. He is also very happy to lecture about Ghana with and talk to about local culture or just a great source of information about the country if you don’t know much. His flexibility in the check in time and communication on the phone was great. This is definitely a place I would like to come back to and spend a few days seeing Kumasi and the village the house is located in. If you are looking for a place near Kumasi or only have a little bit of time in the area, it is a decent distance outside the city so that is the only thing you should be aware of.
